  1. Who voted for Mazepin?

… I guess he did get FL ;P

    1. That’s exactly why I voted for him 🤣

    2. Voted Russell, his lobbying was Mercedes team principal level.
Toto argued for no points but he was defeated by his own driver.

    3. I did … he didn’t crash … and “Fast Lap”, so to speak.

  2. To get on the front row in a Williams was impressive by George Russell, but Mazepin got fastest lap in a Haas. He edges it for me.

Fair enough, but Russell at least didn’t get his front row start behind the safety car

      1. But the conditions were so much more treacherous for Nikita: pretty much my visibility. He eclipsed the likes of Max and Lewis in their rocket-ships. Awesome performance for everyone to see.

  3. My as well get it before anyone else: Alan van der Merwe

    1. Petition to get Keith to add Alan’s name to the list? :P

      1. Again a Mercedes the fastest car and leading every lap.

    2. +1 – he was pushing hard in that Merc!!! Most laps lead too.

    3. Surely Bernd Maylander did the most laps on race day @bernasaurus?!

      1. @geemac I would have guessed van der Merwe, he splashed about quite a few times in the mid-afternoon, and in an estate, which I thought looked good. Regardless, I gave my vote to Nikita, as presumably he now has a Fastest Lap on his record. It’s going to be a trivia quiz answer one day and someone will actually get a point for it.

    4. As you got van der Merwe in first, I want to be first to nominate the squeegee truck driver.

    5. He was spectacular to watch, he beats watching modern f1 cars, he pushed the thing like f1 cars should.

Where are Van der merwe and Maylander?

    1. Yes, these lead more laps that all others combined. Rest was lapped many times.

  5. It should have been Russell, but since we didn’t get a Grand Prix I voted “no opinion”.

    1. @faulty, actually there was a Grand Prix, just that the race was a ridiculous one (but still the Race started). But all other GP sessions ran.
Also the poll is for the driver of the weekend, not driver of the day (or driver of the race)

      1. I suspect that the ‘race’ went ahead to avoid having to refund all the thousands of fans who had paid good money to be there.

  6. Bernd Mayländer

  7. Russell for grabbing P2 on the grid and getting to keep it due the cancellation. Though Norris looked comfortably better than anyone out there until the accident. Also thought Vettel did well considering the Aston Martin’s not great and he’s not usually that good in the wet.

    1. Had norris not crashed it could have been his win

      1. If nikita had two fastest laps he would have won.

  8. George gets my vote but I suppose it should count as half a vote…

  9. Well, we have to make everything count right? I’ll give it to Max for putting critically that car on pole position. Russell can have the other votes.

    1. Perez, for providing one of the few bits of “racing” drama. Nail biting stuff.
They could have holed up in a conference room and done an ESports GP broadcast on the big screens.

  10. A podium in a Williams… The should replace both Mercedes drivers with this guy.

  11. Mazepin managed to get a FLAP in the dog of a car that is the HAAS.

    1. Probably due to dropping back too far from the pack, and then pushing. I’d like to see a replay. Don’t they all have to stay 10 car lengths within each other under SC conditions, barring accident recovery/pit/etc where you have deltas?

    2. Didn’t you know, HAAS is the fastest F1 car and it showed today, they had been just sandbagging all along

    3. @mrmuffins the Haas is not a dog it is a hare.

  12. Max got the pole, the win and led every lap. Easy decision.

  13. Bernd Mayländer, who else?

  14. DOTW: RUS
    DOTD: MAZ

  15. Mazepin of the day: PEREZ
    Verstappen of the day: MAZEPIN
    Hamilton of the day: RUSSELL

    1. Scrap DOTD, this is clearly the superior rating system.

    2. Ahah, quite fun, but what does “verstappen of the day” mean?

  16. Really? Looks like everyone is going through the motions of pretending this was a race. Points, interview, podium ceremony and now a poll. I get that it couldn’t be run safely UT it feels completely ridiculous to do anything other than call this cancelled.

    1. It’s not fair towards those who performed well in qualifying, imo cancelling would suck more than doing what they did, while I obviously would’ve preferred a proper race, with that rain could’ve been one of the best ones.

  17. this driver of the day vote thing is nowadays just a farce…in my opinion.

    1. @spiderman If you check the headline again it is not. I thought that too and voted for Mazepin because he was the fastest today.

    2. It’s not driver of the day

  18. Lewis Hamilton (2%)
    Max Verstappen (5%)
    Sergio Perez (1%)
    Lando Norris (4%)
    Nikita Mazepin (9%)
    George Russell (74%)
    No opinion (6%)
    Total Voters: 171

Russell absolute domination, voted for him too, but I’d also have norris as a candidate, that mistake took away a driver who could’ve certainly fought for pole in q3.

  19. Medical car driver. The only one to push the limit all day long.

All we can base it on is the only competitive session of the weekend – quali. Obviously it’s George this time. Max had a huge gap to Lewis so he would have got it if it wasn’t for Russell’s incredible lap.

  21. It is saddening to see that despite this being the poll for DOTW , there is little voting for Vettel and no mention in the comments. Come on, Seb is just an angel with the way he conducts himself, and his concerns for all drivers’ safety ,esp. after Norris’s crash should at least have got him all your votes this Race Weekend.

  22. Money was clearly the driver of the “race”.

  23. Maylander should be in the list
