Bottas’ disobedience was unsurprising, not that this made a difference in the end.

@jerejj
He clearly lifted off in the last sector which was very slow but the tyre advantage over the previous 2 sectors gave him the fastest lap anyway. Hamilton was 1.5s faster than Bottas on his fastest lap. Besides, Mercedes ruined Bottas’s strategy just to help Hamilton and used him as a milestone to slow Verstappen and then in turn 1 he straightaway let Lewis past.
On what disobedience you are talking about ?

@tifoso1989 Indeed, he was too much ahead in his lap time delta to lose everything in S3 despite the lift that costs him about a second. My point is he didn’t make sure his lift magnitude would be big enough.

@jerejj
Fair enough. I would say that’s more Bottas being just…Bottas.

That Bed Bull is a class from the rest. Mega car. Merc has no answer.
But, but… according to some, its 3rd fastest car ‘cos of Perez. Haha. Cant make this up.

@lums I mean, Merc had no answer except that they nearly won it?
And as Merc will score a 1-2 with ease at Monza, no idea how that isn’t in every sense a car in the same class.

@hahostolze I’m not sure it will be that easy for Merc. They have had to fight at Monza in 2018 and 2019 (losing the latter, albeit Ferrari had an “interesting” PU), and while their mistake in pitting Hamilton when the pits were closed last year was the turning point for the race, Bottas proved they couldn’t really overtake and Hamilton didn’t pull away quite as much as they sometimes do (only 13 secs ahead of Sainz in the McLaren after 19 laps, while they can often be 20+ seconds clear by that point)

Nearly won it? When Lewis on mediums couldn’t keep up with Max on hards while they were still fresh?

Yeah, time for Mercedes to get better drivers.

Did you say that of the other 9 teams at any point over the past 7 years?

Of course Red Bull beat Mercedes – they got 29 points and Mercedes ‘only’ got 34.

Come on just put russel in that merc already and give max some challenge.

In that case, Mercedes will not allow Russel to race Hamiltion.
Driver number 2 in the team must act as wingman for Hamilton, that’s his job.

Good win for Verstappen, he made a good start and never really looked back. Perez was quick but to far back to do any good. The Merc strategy just was not there, Bottas to slow pits stops to slow and badly timed. Norris again looked good as did Russell. The two Ferraris had a low profile race and scored good points, big weekend coming up for them.
