  1. Silly Mercedes… what were they thinking…

  2. Mercedes dropped the ball for Hamilton. The gap would be a single point instead of five.
Ocon’s set lasted until the end, so probably his would’ve equally.

    1. But ocon dropped 4s to gio the last lap

      1. @f1fan-2000 And Alpine is not a Merc and Ocon aint no Hamilton. You may aswell say Ocon is better than Leclerc at saving tyres if that is is the case. I feel Perez gets Ham Leclerc does not so 2 point loss.

    2. Perez would likely overtook him one way or another – so the real loss was just two points in my opinion.

    3. I was almost screaming at the TV “don’t bring him in” Oh well

    4. @jerejj
Ocon’s set “lasted” until the end, meaning he didn’t crash out, but he was so slow that he definitely should’ve pitted.

Of course it is difficult to say whether Hamilton’s tyres before the stop were as bad as Ocon’s.

Admittedly, he might’ve ended up behind Perez & Leclerc anyway, considering Ocon lost two positions.
The same if he stopped around the same time as most.

    5. Hamilton had a giant drop off at the end of his 1st stint. Look at the live timing stats. MB had no other choice to call him in for fresh tyres. Hamilton should have listened to have team and should have boxed when he was told to do so earlier.

  3. Imo im almost relieved they did bring him in Perez and Ham woulda probably crashed imo he lost 2 points today it is very dissapointing. Oh well Merc look great bit like when we had to go through RedBull winning by 10 second plus at the shortest track on the calender not once but twice. So yeah it will be lovely now to see Merc get there rightful chance with quickest car.

  4. By the time they pitted they should have just stayed out, there was a chance to hold off Perez even going a second a lap slower.

Instead the computers that Mercedes use didn’t seem to factor in graining and they nearly succumbed to Norris even in the end were it not for probably some pretty decent driving by Lewis skating around on ice.

You can’t win them all, but quite why they pitted I still don’t know given that the tyres were still doing relatively decent laps, 50 laps into a 58 lap race. Human v machine again.

    1. I also did wonder whether a scrubbed set of inters might have been the better choice, but seen as Lewis didn’t bother to do much in FP3 maybe that wasn’t an option.

  5. Team: Ham come in. Ham No!, Team: come in Ham. Ham Ok. After the race; Ham: it is a team result. What a mess they made of it, Ferrari worthy.

    Nice balance.

  7. I was hoping that Gasly and Norris could have passed Hamilton after his pitstop.

Just imagine if Gasly didn’t have the 5s penalty.
