  1. The championship has officially ended. Red Bull is just faster. Winning the start and having a better strategy doesn’t do anything, you lose anyway.

Alpine are even more than hopeless. Kimi was fantastic, until he botched up. What a shame. But they wouldn’t get their point, I think. Vettel on a fresher rubber was fast enough.

Ferrari could beat McLaren with both cars, so that’s good.

How many times has that been said this year – “Championship over!”

Nah. I think the bumps meant Mercedes had to increase their ride hight a bit and that affected them a lot. This season will go down to the wire.

Another variable : one DNF and the situation looks completely different.

      1. Yeah!

      2. Another variable one blue flag almost fu@#€& the race.

        1. I think more than 1 blue flag – Giovinazzi, Raikonnen, Tsunoda and Schumacher did more damage to Max’s race than any attack by Lewis at the end

  2. Red Bull’s strategy proved better.
Good battles with Alonso & Alfa Romeos further down the field.

    1. It was actually the slower strategy. Was an unoptimal time to pit. The undercut was there yes but in theory Lewis should have overtaken Max with ease, but the car just wasn’t fast enough. Never made it to DRS even on 8 laps newer tyres.

      1. It might have been the slower strategy @david-beau, but Red Bull clearly recognised that it was worth compromising the strategy for superior track position. Fine margins, but it paid off in the end.

  3. Breaching the Hamilton stronghold is an important psychological victory for Red Bull, in a season where mental fortitude is proving just as important as all-out pace when it comes to deciding the championship.

  4. Great Race. Cant believe checo was without “the drink” for 50some laps.

  5. What a race by Verstappen. He impresses me more and more. I don’t think Mercedes could fully utilise their pace advantage on the straights this race because of the bumps so will be interested to see what happens in the next race. Although I did read somewhere that the Merc was still comfortably faster on the straights still

  6. Very good race. Verstappen and Hamilton were excellent out front as was Leclerc who kept pace with Perez and built a big lead with the chasing pack. Tsunoda had his best race in F1 leading Gasly and Bottas comfortably early on and finishing best of the rest of the rest. Vettel was the best and cleanest overtaker which seems weird but it confirms what the stats say… The rest of the midfield were entertaining but messy. There’s always a lot of overtaking at this track due to tyre wear and pitstops but gaps always seem to close up to slightly less than the width of a car.
