RaceFans Predictions Championship

Max Verstappen topped first practice and Valtteri Bottas was quickest after drivers had run qualifying simulations in second practice. However, the driver who showed the most impressive pace around Losail International Circuit was probably Pierre Gasly, who put his AlphaTauri second fastest in both sessions.

Could Gasly – or even team mate Yuki Tsunoda, who has also looked rapid – snatch an unexpected pole? Or will Red Bull and Mercedes find the pace to beat them?

  1. LH and MV will come together again, with MV either slowed by a puncture or crashes out. LH not investigated and LH goes into the last 2 races with the championship lead.

  2. With the rules being on wheels it’s a bit hard to pick who will win.

Is there a reason the results from the last 2 races haven’t been published yet? I mean, it’s not like I can change anything but I’d like to know whether I need to step it up :^)

    1. My predictions in Brazil failed miserably to deliver. I hoped more from Red Bull and eventually i thought that they could get an 1-2 with Mercs following. I also thought that Sainz would be best of the rest….

Max almost won it but eventually he didn’t have the pace, Bottas jumped Perez due to VSC and finished 3rd and Leclerc got a great start and kept Sainz at bay. Simply simply lovely……..😂

    2. @barryfromdownunder Sorry Barry,i wanted to do an individual comment but once again I pressed the reply button without realising it.

I have noticed that when there’s a Sprint race, results get published a bit later so perhaps that’s the reason why we don’t have the results of the 2 events (+ having a triple header)

Fair point, although I was kinda hoping Mexico would have been in already.

Got quite a bit right there (except for pole, Bottas puled that out of his hat) but I also got Brazil quite wrong. Expected more from RB, although I’m interested to see what will happen with the pole sitter. I predicted Max and, looking at the actual grid for the sprint, he was on pole. He may not have driven the fastest time on friday, but one could argue that Hamilton drove an illegal car and therefor his time is void. Meaning Verstappen actually did put in the fastest legal lap.

Naturally I would love to get some points for that, but we’ll see. Never thought I’d be this far up there after so many races. And looking at the total amount of available points, there’s a very good lesson to be learned from this. Readers on RaceFans are quite bad at predicting the race results :D

        1. I think that Brazil might have screwed most of the competitors. It was quite tricky to nail the predictions with only FP1 available.

I also wouldn’t expect me to be in the top ten after 18 rounds. We are only separated by 7 points btw :)
