  1. Masterclass from Max and Fernando.

Disappointing from Lewis, even in rain he was nowhere near Russel’s pace.

Gunther will be smiling ear to ear with that 3rd row.

    Impressive from Zhou as well.

  2. Great session. Alonso can stay in F1 as long as he likes with drives like these!

Sainz had his opportunity but bottled it again. That’s the crucial difference between him and Leclerc that he keeps exposing.

  3. Vamos but make it double

  4. I don’t really see why Russell swung for the fences there. P3 or 4 was on the table and it’s not like qualifying ahead of verstappen or Sainz would matter. They would pass him by lap 2. He was faster than Hamilton consistently and just threw that edge away as well.

The bottoming on the rain tires was ominous for Mercedes too. On slicks tomorrow with the smaller tire diameter every trip down the back straight is going to be brutal.

    1. +1. I wonder who made that call.

      1. It was Russel, it didnt make any sense to me either, now mercedes have both cars behind a Alpine when Russel could have outqualified Fernando.

  5. When the going gets tough… Max, Fernando and Lewis in 3 of the first four places. Charles unable to join them because his personal car issues.

Still cannot believe Fernando put it on the front row. What a performance.

    1. I am sorry George had the measure of Lewis in every session, George took a gamble and no Charles Leclerc.

    2. Was thinking the same: “they’re all tigers out in front, except sainz”!

  6. Is Tsunoda not going to start ahead of Leclerc since he took the engine penalty first?

    1. I was wondering the same thing. Most news stories just posted vague “back of the grid” spot for Leclerc, and I saw at least one say that Leclerc would be 20th. I think it might be based on qualifying time prior to penalty being applied – Leclerc had 1:33.xxx and Tsunodahad 1:36.xxx.

    2. @mashiat No, because he qualified lower.

  7. Nicely mixed-up order.
