Good chance for Sainz to show he has the speed to make it count. And for Ferrari to show they can do a race without catestrophic strategy and operations errors. Will be interesting to see how fast Leclerc and Perez get through to the front too.

With two Aston Martin’s in the top 10 (with some help for Vettel), Alfa Romeo will be very glad that Bottas at least had a good qualifying, so they’ll be looking to score some long overdue points again. Just 7 points between them in the championship now, compared to 27 just three races ago. Zhou was a bit hard done by with that track limits violation, but with the penalty it’s not a big setback.
Verstappen will probably win with ease, which Sainz so much as acknowledged, but he did well to grab pole here.

If I’m right, these penalty rules are now easier to understand, true we have a lot less people penalised than at monza, but zhou and alonso were in positions separated to the others, so they lost 5 places, and the only overlapping ones were perez and leclerc, but they lost 5 and 10 respectively, so there wasn’t anyone getting a reduced penalty, which happened a lot at monza\spa.

But I guess we would need enough penalties for 2 people to get the same temporary grid slot to see the new rules in action, which wasn’t the case here.

Latifi still last after all the penalties
