Haas have officially presented their new car for the 2023 F1 season ahead of the start of testing for the new season.
This time last year Haas presented Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin as its driver line up, but the VF-23 will have two different drivers this year.Mazepin was dropped from the team’s line-up mid-way through testing last year following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the severing of the team’s sponsorship deal with his father’s company Uralkali. Schumacher lost his drive at the end of the year having been out-scored by Mazepin’s replacement Kevin Magnussen, and suffered a number of costly crashes.
Nico Hulkenberg has returned to F1 in Schumacher’s place. Pairing the veteran who has participated in almost 200 grands prix with Magnussen gives Haas one of the most experienced line-ups in F1 today.
The team has attracted new title sponsorship from Moneygram for the upcoming season, and other sponsors such as Chipotle appear on the flanks of their new car. Having finished last in the 2021 championship, they rose two places to eighth last year, a position they will expect to improve on with their more experienced pairing.
