Red Bull to run Formula 1 car at Nurburgring’s Nordschleife

As part of the Red Bull Formula Nurburgring event on the same weekend as the 12 Hours of Nurburgring endurance race on 10th September, Red Bull will hold a demonstration run for a Formula 1 car on the legendary 21km circuit.

It has been almost ten years since the last time a Formula 1 car was demonstrated at the Nordschleife in 2013, when Michael Schumacher drove a 2011 Mercedes W02 on a demonstration lap of the famous course.

Details about the run are not yet known, however former McLaren and Red Bull racer Daniel Ricciardo has been signed as a third driver for Red Bull for this season, largely to carry out demonstrations of the team’s F1 cars for marketing purposes.

Harvey medically cleared to race in IndyCar

Harvey was involved in a multi-car crash midway through the season-opening round at St. Petersburg suffering undisclosed injuries. He planned to take part in a private test at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama earlier this week, but was denied clearance by IndyCar’s medical staff. Following further evaluation, Harvey has now been cleared by IndyCar to race in Texas on April 2nd.

“We would like to express our gratitude for the exceptional care the IndyCar medical team and safety team has given to Jack, both onsite in St. Petersburg and in the time since then,” the team said in a statement.

Martins secures F2 pole by seven tenths

Reigning FIA Formula 3 champions and Alpine junior driver Victor Martins secured his first pole position in Formula 2 by a wide margin of seven tenths over Oliver Bearman and championship leader Theo Pourchaire in third.

Martin’s best time was almost three-quarters of a second quicker than Bearman as secured pole for Sunday’s feature race in the final minutes of the session. Qualifying was cut short with less than two minutes remaining when Arthur Leclerc stopped at the exit of turn 22, denying many drivers a final opportunity to improve their own times.

Jak Crawford will start on reverse-grid pole for today’s sprint race, with Bahrain sprint race winner Ralph Boschung alongside on the front row.

Few people work seven years in the same job these days, no need for crazy theories to ‘explain’ a move like this.

Michael Schumacher famously worked with Balbir Singh for many years, Hamilton and Cullen obviously had a long partnership as well. Maybe it’s their successes that made these people more famous, but I’m not actually sure if all other drivers similarly work long-term with particular trainers.
