Ferrari will have a title sponsor for the first time since 2021 at next week’s Miami Grand Prix.
The team announced it has signed a deal with technology brand Hewlett-Packard which will see it officially compete under the title Scuderia Ferrari HP.Ferrari previously announced it will use a special heritage livery incorporating shades of blue. In the sixties Ferrari’s cars briefly competed using a blue and white colour scheme which happen to closely match HP’s corporate colours.
The team issued renderings showing how HP’s branding will be incorporated on its cars and drivers’ overalls. It will also appear on the car raced by its junior driver Maya Weug in the F1 Academy series which will form part of the Miami Grand Prix support bill.
Under the deal Ferrari will use HP technology including PCs and other devices, conferencing appliances and printers.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said HP is an “ideal partner” because it shares the “same values” as the team. “Our founder passed on to us his continuous will to progress. From this stems our drive to innovate on the road and on the track, as well as our commitment to a sustainable future, from carbon neutrality to the education of the younger generation,” he said. “We look forward to starting our collaboration and facing new opportunities and challenges together.”
The team’s drivers will be given the opportunity to perform a “lap of honour” prior to the start of the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday next week.

I love how @keithcollantine always takes every opportunity to remind us how good looking mid-2000s cars were

For sure, I always said they should figure out how to get back to the 2004 style formula…that was the last real F1 car.

They truly were beautiful. The BMW Sauber that was white with blue accents was always gorgeous and my favorite design and livery.

So that’s the real reason why they’re introducing blue to the livery, makes sense now.

The two HP logos on the front of the race overalls looks a bit silly. Why does it need the same logo twice?

Yeah… it would make more sense on Mercedes’ overalls. I’ve always wondered why they insist on putting their logo on both the grill and the top of the hood, just a few inches above, on their road cars.

Ah it was not only me as i thought why do they have a big HP logo on their belly. It’s looks too full or buzzy almost i want to close my eyes or just not look at that….

I immediately got reminded of that sponsorship deal with Williams, which also coincides with when I started watching & following F1, although after a little research for Williams cars from 2000 onwards, to find out when that sponsorship stint that lasted until 2005-end precisely started, which was the 2002 British GP.

Like with the Toro Rosso – Visa thing, I see this trend of more and more legacy consumer companies lining up to (re)join F1 as a sign that F1 is doing well as a business.
But of course, some people will always insist on gatekeeping the sport.

HP has a huge business services department, so they are probably targetting enterprise users rather than consumers, like Splunk does with McLaren.
