  1. DOTW & DOTD: NOR, no one else stood out particularly.

    1. No way – Norris qualified behind his teammate and was lucky Piastri got a 3 grid penalty.
Norris had the fastest car but failed on his first stint to stay close to Max with tiny errors every few laps – his laptimes were erratic that is driver error. On his 2nd stint he should have gotten closer earlier but over pushed the car again causing him to make tiny errors and less time that wasn’t needed.

You should look beyond the top finishers (and even there you ignored the race winner).
Yuki and Nico stood out just as much, and at least they (and Max) beat their respective teammates on Saturday :P

    3. Max stood out. Look at what Perez achieved with the same car. Stellar performance. Under-appreciated by sentiment which I can understand since 2014-2020 was no different. But at least in the latest dominance streak RedBull managed to only get ‘2 and a bit’ season of it whereas Mercedes bored us for 8 years straight.

  2. Can only be Max getting pole and win in clearly the 2nd fastest car.
McLaren had the fastest car but Piastri/Norris failed on Saturday and Norris failed on Sunday.

Clearly, yes. McLaren looks very strong now. If it was just the car they’d have started ahead of Max and stayed there. With such small margins, the best driver is even more valuable. While I won’t organise a whip-round for Max he deserves every penny he earns and then some! Top performance.

    2. 2nd fastest car? Look at Perez, he set the fastest lap of all the 1 stoppers.

It’s the fastest car just Max took too much out of the tyres early in his second stint which allowed Lando to gain on him.

Look at Perez, he set the fastest lap of all the 1 stoppers.

        On Medium tyres!
The McLaren’s (and then the Ferrari’s) were the fastest 1 stoppers on Hard tyres.

    3. I agree. And I even doubt whether that RB was the 2nd fastest car. I had all the looks of also Ferrari being ahead of them. On top of that, Perez couldn’t even get near a single Mercedes. DOTW has to be Max therefore.

  3. I’ve gone Tsunoda.

Every one seemed to work hard this weekend … even Lance did well today.

    1. Yeah, Tsunoda really showed great pace and race craft today, Stroll had a really solid weekend here too. Norris got my vote for pushing as well as he did in the end to make it tight and give us hope of more. Well done for both Max and Lando to race it out for that last 10 laps on ever worse tyres, I hope we get to see more of this close racing in the next few races.

Shame for the penalty for Piastri, would have been interesting to see whether he would have managed to push Verstappen in the first stint – he seemed to have a better grip on the mediums than Lando – would have given us more tense moments at the front early on.

  4. Tsunoda for me. Except for his little tantrum at the beginning of the year he is driving well and is carrying the Faenza team well

  5. This time Max had to earn it… and did!
Not particularly impressed by Lando’s or Oscar’s driving, with a few less mistakes Lando should have won
The Ferrari wall dropped the ball with Oscar’s undercut on Carlos, not sure how much they care about Carlos by now

  6. Verstappen for me. Coming back from a very difficult start of the weekend. Clearly better than his teammate and keeping behind a faster Norris at the end.

  7. Has to be Verstappen. Not only has he managed to get the pole and win the race at Imola, he also raced in the Nurburgring 24 event on iRacing an won that race (with his team) as well.

    1. Yes, that is indeed quite exceptional. He sure is the driver of the weekend if you look at all racing categories

  8. Max. The driver made the difference today.
Nice to see from a championship perspective. RB must be worried about the WCC especially right about now.

    1. I should hope they are. Things are really not smooth anymore and keeping Perez in that car during 2024 will turn out to be a big mistake

  9. Verstappen, this weekend Red Bull looked behind on pace but he still managed to grab pole, just, and take the win. Well deserved. Would Norris have passed with two more laps? It would have been fascinating to see the attempt but to me it never really looked on that he’d catch Max.

tsunoda was impressive in qualifying, but there was one thing in the race that puts me off voting for him. After he pitted, he seemed to really struggle to pass sargeant. This weekend, I would say that this team had a big advantage over williams, and we should factor in the tyre offset. Tsunoda had just pitted and Sargeant was still on old tyres. Even with that huge advanatage for Tsunoda, he was stuck behind Sargeant for well over 5 laps, and Sargeant was pretty slow and didn’t even have DRS.

This to me ruined his race, and I think he should have got past far quicker then he maybe could have finished ahead of Stroll.

  11. Tsunoda.

  12. No one has called out Oscar’s drive in the comments. I think he did a brilliant job in Qualy, I don’t think you can fault him personally for holding up Magnussen as he didn’t know he was coming up behind him, and in the race, he didn’t put a foot wrong. If he didn’t get the grid drop, I suspect we would be talking about how close Oscar came to winning his first GP behind Max.

  13. If you didn’t vote for Max, take a long cold look at yourself in the mirror
