  1. Gasly for me. Couldn’t have qualified better, gained two places at the start and finished as high as possible too. Verstappen and Leclerc also seemed to maximise both qualy and the race. Norris did a good qualy lap and had good pace, but the car was clearly the class of the field and he did have yet another poor start, which could have cost him if not for the car advantage.

    1. Ditto.
A solid performance in a poor car will always get my vote over a top driver in a rocket ship.

    2. Agreed, came here to say the same thing. Norris was impressive all weekend by Gasly dragging that Alpine into Q3 and the points was mighty.

  2. Norris off course. With both Ferrari drivers having a really good sunday, just like Hamilton and I would say Gasly also deserves a mention. Hulk did well, but it was mostly about trying to eke tyre life out for most of the race.

Russel was going solidly, not sure why Mercedes felt the need to pit him though. And Perez had a solid result.

    1. LW …. 2024 WDC!

  3. Easy choice for both DOTW & DOTD accolades.

  4. I went with Leclerc for beating a Red Bull and a Mclaren which were both clearly faster machinery l. Also delivered about the max from his car in qualifying.

Norris did great but another poor start that ultimately meant little as he had a car that was probably half a second per lap quicker than any other. Understand the votes he’ll get though as a pole and win always gets votes.

    1. I’d have gone for Leclerc up until Lando got the fastest lap at the end. He wasn’t in as pressured a situation as Leclerc, but going for that extra point without risking a pit stop topped it all off nicely. Gasly did well, too. Lewis has as many votes as Leclerc at this point. Lewis had a decent enough race, but the results of the vote so far indicate a significant number of headbangers voting…

What happened with Ricciardo? He bubbled back up towards the end and overtook Stroll near the end. He had a so-so weekend, but seems to have made up for it in the race somewhat.

Piastri looked a bit wretched out there. It’s a tricky track…

I’m not sure I saw Ocon on screen for the whole race. He did well to evade all cameras.

      1. What happened with Ricciardo? He had good race pace and closed up to the Astons twice but couldn’t get past. A decent qualifying and he might have got Gasly’s points.
What happened with Tsunoda? RB seem to always put their drivers on split strategies, which you probably have to do if you’re hoping to luck into some points. But putting Tsunoda on the riskier strategy? There is no way they would have done this if the points paid down more places. It certainly cost Tsunoda.

    2. I voted Gasly because he had a perfect week-end, some great overtakes, and was more likely to be overlooked, but Leclerc was another stand-out indeed.

  5. Lewis getting votes has to be a joke.

    1. For Driver of the Race it makes perfect sense to vote Lewis. He is the only one to pull off a two-stopper, starting 14th and finishing just five seconds behind his team mate who started ten places ahead. For Driver of the weekend, like this poll is asking, his qualifying was nowhere near the level required to win this vote.

    2. Lewis has a lot of fan ultra fans on here whose lives revolve around his reputation, which is pretty silly since it’s not really even needed. Max has fans like that, but they’re a lot less numerous.

  6. Voted for Norris, but he and the McLaren team need to improve his starts; the are clearly substandard. If my memory serves me he has yet to get to the first corner first when he puts the car on pole.

    1. I don’t think it matters as long as they maintain this advantage over the other teams. Lando can start carefully and wait for the race to come to him. Piastri hasn’t demonstrated consistent, fast race pace to rival Lando yet, so Lando should have him covered now he’s allowed to race him. I expect that Piastri won’t do anything stupid, so all Lando has to do is survive the start and win the race later.

  7. Good race from Lando and from Max again. Soon there will be documentaries on why their sim racing makes them stand out in F1 and that it will become a requirement for drivers to win.

  8. Leclerc drove an impressive race, and outqualified Sainz. But let’s face it, the driver who beat their team mate most soundly may just be Lando Norris.

Half a second in qualifying, and half a minute in the race. By every measure, this was Verstappen on Perez levels of domination from Norris.

That makes Lando my DOTW, despite a minus for once again losing the lead at the start.

  9. Voted for Norris. Pole position and didn’t panic when he lost the lead at the start. OK it was not perfect but he did very well. Other than this I only really considered Leclerc and Gasly. Leclerc drove a very solid race and did well to keep Piastri behind him. Good strategy by Ferrari today as well.

  10. Three or four years ago, I predicted that Lando was a Champ in the making in one of my comments on Race Fans, and I don’t see any change in that belief. He was my driver of the day/week, because of how he shrugged off all the anti LN publicity from the last two or three weeks and put in a fabulous performance to win with an extra point too. Yes the start was a recurring nightmare yet again, but he didn’t do the rash thing and flog his tyres to death trying to catch Max.

BUT …. I was in two minds over giving the vote to Gasly as he drove the wheels off that Alpine soapbox for the whole weekend. I don’t favour Alpine with praise normally (or ever) but his drive in qually and the race stood out to me – such a shame he couldn’t swap places with Perez so he could have a half decently performing car Better than the Alpine anyway)
