Formula 3 says the new car it is introducing for next season will allow drivers with a greater range of body sizes and shapes to participate in the championship.
The junior series also intends its new car to produce better racing, which was also a key aim for its predecessor, and help make the championship more sustainable.The F3 2025, designed by Dallara, was presented at the Monza circuit today during the championship’s final race weekend of the season. The FIA said it complies with their latest safety standards for single-seaters.
The cockpit has been reshaped in order to improve the ergonomics for drivers of different sizes. The FIA is especially keen to tackle the obstacles which have made it harder for female racers to participate in the series.
Sophia Floersch is the only woman racing in F3 this year. Tatiana Calderon shook the new car down at the Vairano circuit in Italy two months ago.
It will run on what the series calls a “100% sustainable” fuel when it is introduced, one year before F1 moves to the same power source. Pirelli will supply new 16-inch tyres for the car, incorporating a natural rubber component certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
“In addition to updated safety and performance, we are proud that this new generation of cars integrates cutting-edge technology initiatives aimed at helping to reduce racing carbon emissions, running on advanced fuel that meets the FIA’s 100% sustainable fuel standard, just like Formula 1 from 2026,” said FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem. “This demonstrates our commitment to work towards lowering motorsport’s greenhouse gas emissions while driving innovation.
“Moreover, the enhanced cockpit design reflects our ongoing efforts to make motorsport more inclusive, ensuring that drivers of all physical profiles have the opportunity to compete at the highest level. This new FIA Formula 3 embodies the FIA’s vision of a sport that is progressive, inclusive, and sustainable.”

I kinda miss the days when cars were more unique across categories with each having it’s own distinct look.
Now everything looks very similar, something made even worse now that everything aside from F1 is essentially a spec category when it comes to the chassis.
I just think it was so much better when you had very different looking cars across categories with a grid of different looking cars within each category. Just made things look more interesting & gave more categories to follow for those of us who don’t especially enjoy watching the spec stuff.
Sport as a whole has gotten so much more dull & boring in this regard!

Yeah. There’s absolutely zero reason they couldn’t have made the F2 cars look prettier or more different.
As for the inclusiveness. What utter absurdity if that was code for making the cars more comfortable for obese drivers. The only other thing I could see is making the car easier for taller drivers. If so, just say that. Formula drivers are tiny. So, I can’t see it being about making them more comfortable for women.

I’m surprising at how good the car actually looks. Finally, the nose looks has a nice, flowing arch and the sidepods aren’t huge. And it’s almost the size of an F2 car.
The only thing I dislike is the disproportionally high rear wing. At least it isn’t the ugly F2 kite.

It is a big improvement on the current F3 cars, which look like dinky go karts right now.
