The state of Texas is home to many things: The Alamo, the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Centre and several underachieving NFL teams.

Texas also plays host to the United States Grand Prix – one of the best-attended events on the F1 calendar and a popular one among drivers and teams.

Naturally, many drivers are getting into the spirit of the weekend with special themed helmet designs. Meanwhile, there will be a new design on the grid from this weekend following the second in-season driver replacement of the year…

At McLaren, Oscar Piastri is running with a design that he will race both this weekend in Austin as well as in the Las Vegas Grand Prix next month.

As the US Grand Prix takes place in the day and the Las Vegas round at night, Piastri has adopted this clever half-and-half design themed around the road journey between Texas, home of the US GP, and Nevada, where Las Vegas is located.

Sergio Perez’s home grand prix in Mexico may be next weekend, but the Mexican driver has long enjoyed strong support at COTA over the years.

Perez does not have an especially Texan themed design this weekend, but he is displaying Disney+ branding as the streaming service is soon to release a documentary about the Red Bull driver.

It’s a special race weekend for Alexander Albon as he celebrates his 100th grand prix start on Sunday.

To mark the occasion, the Williams driver is racing with a design inspired by one he had during his formative karting years. As it happens, young Albon was a big fan of Moto GP champion Valentino Rossi…

Valtteri Bottas’s US Grand Prix helmet design

Another rounds, another novelty helmet design for Bottas designed by his talented partner Tiffany Cromwell.

This weekend, the Sauber driver is sporting his psychadellic number featuring the slogan of ‘Keep Austin Weird’. While the city of Austin might face copyright claims from Portland over the slogan, it’s another colourful design from one of the more colourful characters on the grid.

Although not US Grand Prix themed, Liam Lawson’s design is significant as it is his first helmet for the 2024 season.

After taking over Daniel Ricciardo’s RB seat for the rest of the season, Lawson is finally a full time Formula 1 driver. The New Zealand driver, who has chosen 30 as his race number, has the silver fern of his home country on top of his helmet design, with a rather fetching level of pink to his look also.
