  1. Ferrari coming in hot.

    1. Talk about coming in hot. Leclerc under pressure very nearly squandered a boat load of championship points.

  2. Looking at the remaining races you’d expect Max to get to 400 points this season. 10 per race weekend with 2 sprint races left seems very possible. I just can’t see Lando getting 85 points to make that magic 400 number. Of course, a DNF changes the picture completely, but I still see Max as a big favourite here.

    1. You say that, but Verstappen isn’t qualifying by a country mile as they use to. Something has changed, which says a lot for how Red bull have been playing this game.

Their championship is done, a product of the selfish driver strategy. If Verstappen wins, it wont be with the assistance of Perez.

      1. The numbers on this are extremely simple: Norris needs to outscore Verstappen by 11.75 points per weekend over each of the next 4 weekends to take the title. Norris took 10 out of Verstappen this weekend. In “normal” circumstances it is still incredibly unlikely that Norris will take the title because he has simply not caught Verstappen fast enough over the last 5 or so races. It will take a disaster for Verstappen (e.g. a DNF or a non points finish) to bring Norris seriously into this fight.

        1. Mclaren just don’t have the pace advantage to have both their drivers consistently qualify in the top 4 spots. Right now they have one driver who is capable of finishing a spot or two in front of Max, while the other one trails him consistently.
Hypothetically, even if Lando were to win the last 4 races, he’d need both Ferraris and Oscar between him and Max to win the title. Seems way to too unrealistic unless Max has a DNF and Norris takes at least 3 wins in the last 4 races.

I can think of a certain Mercedes driver who must be looking forward to Christmas!

    1. I wonder who that is?

Once again his car got stiffed between P3 and qualifying, meaning he had a trickier car to drive against Mercedes’ designated #1 driver. Even then that #1 elect managed to undo that advantage.

      1. Wonder who constantly makes hamilton’s car stiffer for qualifying, who has a motive for that… russell?

  4. Setting up to be a great finish to the season even if it’s only for the constructors.

Here’s a wild stat…this is the first season with 6 drivers winning multiple races since 1981.

    1. What about 7? Russell might still make it.

WDC is pretty much settled, but WCC is getting hot.

      1. If that happens, I mean 7 multiple winning drivers, that should really be a first. Or has it ever happened?

        1. We already got 7 winners this season and russell already won, but we’ve also got more than 7 winners, I believe 2012 is an example.

      2. Well… if max has a DNF and Lando wins, the drivers champ becomes very interesting…

        1. Which poses the question which of the #2 is up for it? I can just picture it, Piastri accidently leaving his rear wheel for Verstappen to drive up and over.

      3. Wait, what are you saying? Russell already won this season.

    2. Apologies to you and the others, I missed that you weren’t just saying “winners”, but “multiple winners”, seemed too odd!

  5. McLaren’s focus on Verstappen appears to have caught them off guard in the constructors championship. They risk losing both titles despite arguably having the best all-around car throughout the season. Meanwhile, Ferrari’s shot at clinching the constructors now depends on winning the last four races and consistently securing podium finishes with the second driver as they now seem to have the fastest car.

    1. Indeed, impressive resurgence by ferrari, I didn’t see them coming, even back in monza, when leclerc won; would be a disaster for mclaren to lose their only chance for the constructor’s in 26 years.

  6. Still Max’s to lose in the WDC, if he cools down, he should realize that Norris trailing the Ferraris means it’s virtually impossible to make up the gap. Ferrari should win the constructor’s with Piastri checking out.

    1. Yes, it all depends how quick ferraris are in a given weekend, but if they only leave norris the breadcrumbs (15 points), it’s likely he would only make minimal gains on verstappen, in which case even a mechanical DNF for verstappen won’t give norris the title, he could gain for example 15, then 5, 5, 5, that’s 30 and he needs 47.

  7. The Constructors championship is wide open really. It would be amazing if Ferrari won it, considering where they were at the summer break. Piastri’s performances have fallen away a little in the last couple of races. He needs to be more consistent or Ferrari are going to snatch it I think. The Ferrari duo don’t tend to have many bad weekends.

Imagine how McLaren would feel not to win either drivers or constructors. Especially after the euphoria of them taking the lead off of Red Bull.

In five races (and one sprint) Colapinto scored more points than Sargeant in the previous 15&2!
