    That was some drive by Lewis Hamilton!
    Not bad for one whose shelf life is gone!

    1. It was a 2023 Perez drive for me.

      Nice to see he can cut through the field in the fastest car (also fastest in a straight line) on a track with a massive straight and easy DRS

      But if he’d done even a mediocrly competent job in quali and started (say) 4th, he would have fought for the win.

      1. Exactly, underpeform in quali and then use the car to pass slower cars and win praises.

  2. standouts are Esteban and Yuki, putting up and out performing their teammates. Good job those guys. Good job Mercedes, hopefully HAM can figure out his rear end issues before the end of the year so he has a chance in qualifying.

    1. Sorry but did you watch the race? Ocon was P17. He finished ahead of Gasly because Gasly’s engine blew and he DNF’d.

      Don’t think you watched the same race.
      Gastly was running smoothly in the top 10 until his engine went. What utter waffle!

    3. @pcxmac This is why you can’t just understand the race by looking at the final positions

      1. With the lack of an edit button @pcxmac is now busy reporting his/her own comment to get it deleted ;)

  3. Mega drive by Hulkenberg. Extended his tires the first two stints without losing much ground, then made that pass on Yuki for 8th that literally moved Haas from P8 to P6 in the WCC. That could be a $20 million pass.

    1. That money’s changed hands a lot! I think you may be right that it’s the decisive move. Not sure Alpine or Visa Application have it in them to grab it back.

  4. Ferrari for the constructors’?
    It’ll be close, and fun finding out – but I suspect they’ll need a McDNF somewhere to pull it off.

    1. I’m afraid Ferrari dropped the ball in Vegas. They had a good chance to pit Sainz sooner but they “weren’t ready”. Had Carlos pitted earlier than he did, he’d have been able to fight Hamilton for 2nd. In Qatar McLaren seems to be the favourite, they might even seal the deal for the WCC there.

  5. Best of the Rest Championship*:
    1) Haas 657 (HUL 376, MAG 253, BEA 28)
    2) RB 547 (TSU 284, RIC 211, LAW 52)
    3) Alpine 503 (GAS 252, OCO 251)
    4) Williams 398 (ALB 220, COL 98, SAR 80)
    5) Sauber 278 (ZHO 146, BOT 132)

    * regular points structure for bottom 5 teams, incl. FLAP & Sprint points

    1. This now confirms:
      Hulkenberg as BotR WDC;
      Haas as BotR WCC;
      Sauber with the Red Lantern Award.

  6. Perez is now set to finish 8th in the standings which would be the lowest position the Drivers’ Champions team mate has finished in the 21st century. He still has a theoretical chance to finish ahead of Lewis but that would require winning the last two races plus a 3rd place finish in the Qatar sprint race or 5th if he gets the fastest lap in both races
