  1. I still wish the Saturday sessions, including the F2 sprint race, were brought forward by an hour so that qualifying could again begin at 17:00 as per traditional & more importantly, give full consistency + FP2 would become fully useful for both qualifying & the race again rather than only the latter.
The qualifying start time had zero need for a change suddenly after 13 years, & for that matter, zero reason not to have all standard weekend format GPs follow the consistent FP1/3, FP2-qualifying-race sharing a start time pattern, which presently only Jeddah & LV have, & which most events still had in 2021, including all standard format European rounds.
I’m willing to bet Simon will respond yet again since he seemingly likes to do so mostly whenever I post anything in weekend schedule articles.

  2. Always great to come back to this track as a reminder of what should not happen in sports. And also the lows that fans, media and people within the sport will allow if it suits them. One day…

    1. I don’t know what you’re implying & if it’s what I think, UAE isn’t like Saudi Arabia or even Qatar & Bahrain, for that matter.
If you mean something else, certainly nothing wrong with the Yas Marina Circuit itself.

Abu Dhabi is sold out again this year, has been for years even with no title race. Full of locals & people from every corner of the world. What’s so bad about it?

  3. Imagine reaching the end of an F1 season with a nail-biting battle for the championship and having this track for the finale. What an anti-climax.
Oh, but it has already happened, in 2021! The race was a stinker before Latifi’s crash.
I can’t believe Liberty Media won’t consider better circuits for the season finale.

    1. As long as Abu Dhabi pays a separate premium annually alongside the standard hosting fee, the Yas Marina Circuit will remain the final GP location & only another Middle East location could realistically out-bid them if they wanted to.
Bahrain & Saudi Arabia are happy in the early-season phase, which leaves Qatar & so far, they haven’t attempted.
Perhaps Qiddiya in 2028, presumably joining alongside Jeddah rather than replacing it & in the late-season phase.
Besides, the Yas Marina Circuit fits well as the season-finale location, even if it isn’t the most racing-friendly circuit even in its 2021-present configuration.
