Welcome to Tuesday’s edition of the RaceFans round-up.

Comment of the day

The FIA president should raise his dislike of swearing with Formula One Management, DB-C90 reckons:

Maybe if they didn’t cherry-pick the radio conversations to include mainly those with swearing to spice up the show it would be less of a problem.

I doubt the drivers are doing it more, the broadcaster is just making it seem that way. Surely there are far more pressing issues for the FIA.

Lindblad takes another step towards F1 (Motorsport UK)

'The young Briton had already amassed 30 of the 40 points required from his various successes in F4 and Formula 3 series. Now the additional 15 points bagged in New Zealand mean he has reached the threshold and could, in theory, join the GP grid just as soon as an opportunity presents itself.'

  1. COTD: Spot-on.

The Motorsport UK article gives a misleading idea as Lindblad merely reached the points minimum, but he’ll only be eligible for a super license when he turns 18 in August as he’s unlikely to meet the necessary criteria for earlier granting any more than Antonelli, so he can’t actually obtain until the relevant August day & therefore, the Dutch GP is the earliest possible opportunity that could present itself.

Not really related to the round-up today, but recently CVC bought the company I’m working for. Having known CVC through their ownership of F1 commercial rights I dreaded what was in store for us, and lo and behold, I was right. They are awful owners and it’s time to look for something else. Pity, because it was nice to place to work before CVC.

Sorry to hear- it’s horrible to hear this big corporations buy decent companies destroy them and then sell them off. Really wish there was a way to stop it.

    2. Sorry to hear, it’s rubbish when things are just out of your control. Best of luck on the job hunt mate, hope you land on your feet.

    3. Thank you for that insider information. Private equity firms that buy businesses in which they have no expertise and blindly apply generic cost-cutting measures do a lot of damage. Good luck with finding another nice place to work !

  3. Lawson, 23 today, is Max Verstappen’s first Formula 1 team mate who is younger than him

Strange I always thought Alex was younger then Max but I stand corrected…

  4. Somehow I’d completely missed the fact Formula E was going to Jeddah rather then Riyadh this year. Might work a bit better as they’ll have more space to work with

    1. Another chicane-filled track, though – really takes the fun out of it for me.
