'Next week when I get to the race, I'm going to be starting a grand prix in red. Like, wow... I don't have the words to really explain just how excited I am. I'm trying to just stay cool and calm, but for sure, arriving in red (at Melbourne) is going to be cool.'

‘We had one shot to get it right’ – Susie Wolff on the ‘F1 Academy effect’ and the crucial next steps for the future (F1)

'This season also sees the return of reverse grids after a year away — a move that Wolff champions as vital for those wanting to knock on the door for F3 and F2 in years to come. 'First and foremost, it’s in other race series so, when they progress up, they will be faced with reverse grids,' Wolff says. 'It also allows those racing at the front to still have to fight through from the midfield and learn and develop their racecraft.''

Hamilton handed 'backfire' warning as Norris has F1 title advantage (The Mirror)

Jacques Villeneuve: 'We should see the good Lewis, the one that knows how to win - and he definitely knows how to win. That's the lethal Lewis, like the one we saw in Silverstone last year.'

'There's a big push to get more women into F1' (BBC)

'There's also a push for women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) in general and in motor sport, too... and I'm really fortunate to be getting to be a part of that movement.'

  1. Regarding yesterday’s Suzuka race 2: Thus far, only one team has won in 2025 & likewise, only one driver has achieved pole positions.
How the stewards handled Ota’s illegal advantage-gaining was a bit too FIA-esque, with only the late SC period making the 5-second time penalty properly impactful.
Iwasa taking the lead into T1 gave a strong deja vu feeling from Saturday, but on this occasion, his maiden victory chance went away due to strategy.
Despite this race being the first since 2019 without a mandated pit stop window, I was still surprised by how many did their mandatory pit stops away within the first two laps.
Igor Fraga, in turn, fared the best among the non-Japanese drivers, even challenging Nojiri in the latter stages.
I didn’t see a 2024 Miami GP situation coming at all, i.e., the SC picking up someone other than the leader, which fortunately was short enough for everyone below him to catch the Docomo Dandelion duo within the remaining race distance.

  2. The winner of the caption competition is very very good. Well done @DiezCilindros!

    1. Thank you! :).

  3. pole-winner Gerhard Berger, in his first race for McLaren, at Phoenix

Berger outqualified Senna in their first race as team mates? The same exploit of Hakkinen is well known, but I did not know about Berger.
