  1. Stroll is now starting to run. He is doing such a good job. So far outperforming Alonso.

Also, good one from Lewis and his Ferrari

Considering He is a year or two away from getting a race winning car from newey, and for newey sake I hope he will make it happen

  2. I went for a 6. Intriguing battles throughout the field but didn’t really amount to anything.

Masterclass from Hamilton. McLaren doing their best to throw away the best car as usual.

I thought the graining was excessive, might lead to a better GP as the wear is so high but this is my issue with the sprints – not enough strategic element, and gives the teams 24 hours to think of the best pit strategy and tyre model.

    A dynamic stalemate.

    1. IMHO Hamilton left Mclaren for mercedes after 2012 because he realised that even when they had the best car they would still throw it away.

  3. This is one of the few sprint races where I don’t think it’s revealed much about what to expect tomorrow. The Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull (in Max’s hands) seem so evenly matched around here. The Mercedes doesn’t seem too far off either. Anyone’s guess how qualy and the race proper will go. Stoked for Lewis. Here’s hoping he can mount a challenge for the title. Gave it a 6.

  4. A largely straightforward sprint with little battling for positions, although the few battles were decently exciting.

  5. 6. Promise that never really materialised. Drivers in anything approaching a battle just chewed the tyres and could go no further.

Alarm bells have to be ringing at McLaren, though, Norris’s pace was abysmal and Stroll just drove away from him until he ran out of tyres. Piastri at least showed there was more in the car, but even then, looks like they have had their wings clipped, they’re not the superstars on deg they looked in Aus, there or thereabouts with the Max’s Red Bull, marginally ahead perhaps, and another small step ahead of Merc (so not a disaster) but Ferrari look well clear. Hamilton able to manage his pace ‘maybe’ flattered them on the deg front a little, but Leclerc looked by far the raciest at the end of the stint as well chasing down Russell.

I was pretty much like every sprint race: A waste of time…

  7. F1 sprint the championship of managing your tyres.

  8. I also voted 6, which isn’t only the most voted option in the poll, but also among comments, it’s the only rating people gave to it, I found it quite uneventful, with lawson recovering some positions since he was out of places and some battles behind, but not much happening in the lead positions, even though for a while verstappen looked like he’d be able to attack hamilton, then he lost touch and ended up being passed by piastri, but he didn’t try to defend hard, he was already clearly focusing on the championship battle with norris, knowing 2nd or 3rd place would be good in relation to norris’ result.

Guessing the 10s are people being happy about hamilton’s victory (which I didn’t mind either, shows he is still able to perform at a high level and it’s also the first win for ferrari in a sprint), the 1s must be protest voters, over half voted 5-7, so very meh rating, with about 1\4 of the voters going for 8-9 and 2-4.

      1. I voted 4 solely because I was happy about Hamilton’s victory :)
I still dislike the sprint races as a detraction from the real GP and this one was particularly gruesomely dull I thought. Hamilton won the first corner, race over. I don’t mind some GPs were the focus is on tyre managing, a battle of strategies oover the course of the race but little overtaking on track – it’s one of the possible ways a GP can unfold. But the whole idea of sprints is some extra excitement. This one was utterly pointless then. The track isn’t suited to them.

        1. The track isn’t suited to them.

It’s not the track – it’s the cars.
Even when the problem is the track (ie Monaco) it is still also the cars. Everywhere.
