  1. Thats a very easy one: verstappen .
Do not even write down arguments..just watch.

    1. Yeah, he did not quite nail pole, but was super close. He did it right after the start though, with a courageous and bold move and never really looked back.

      1. For me Norris was the second best with probably Albon and Sainz and certainly Hadjar as highlights, although Russel probably did as well as he could with how the pitstops and VSC/SC turned out.

        1. Norris did great even tho he didn’t have the advantage of the SC that Verstappen amd Piastri had. Could have made it difficult for Max if only mcLaren would start racing as a team for the team

  2. DOTW: VER, DOTD: Ultimately also VER, with honorable mentions to ALB & TSU.

    1. I was supposed to type HAD instead of TSU, but I ended up taking off the former after having initially typed both.

      1. Given that Tsunoda crashed in qualifying, I would hesitate to have him as doing a remarkable job. He really just benefited from decent strategy and the VSC and SC situations.

I’m a huge Yuki fan yet I have to agree. Only sheer luck seems him scoring points. He was incredibly lucky to hold off Alonso who had to pass four cars to get onto his tail and only had 1.5 laps to catch and pass him and he still barely held on. He had one nice pass against Hulkenberg vs the four nice passes it took Alonso to get on his tail in a far slower car while also having a much better quali.

Great pass by Max, but the positions were largely determined by sheer luck in this race.

I’ll give a shout out to Alonso who not only had an amazing quali but had 4 amazing passes after the safety car and got to .101 of passing Yuki on the last lap. Of course, they showed none of them during the broadcast.

Albon and Sainz both drove great races with radically different luck determining. Leclerc too, but he doesn’t have that hashtag blessed luck.

    1. Don’t forget about Hadjar!

Love the guy, but like Hamilton, it took a lot of luck. However, it’s unfair to compare his weekend to Hamilton. Hadjar actually had a great weekend and utterly destroyed his teammate. Hamilton was just lucky.

        1. Hadjar drove very well. They way he stayed ahead of Andrea proved this.

Hamilton had a solid race, but he wasn’t even the best Ferrari driver this weekend. No idea how he got 17% of the vote (so far).

  5. A lot of drivers performing at a consistent high level this season, including this weekend, but Verstappen is the clear standout for the brilliant opportunism to grab the lead and so the race win, also for second on the grid. Piastri drove fine but that slight gap as he focused on Russell in the mirrors was all Verstappen needed.

    1. Yeah, that was a bold move from Verstappen and exactly what he needed. Reacted perfectly to seeing how Piastri was compromising his line by keeping Russel boxed in and that was it really. I think Norris drove a far better race than Piastri today, although the pit call did hurt Piastri (does the driver get a say in that?

      1. @bascb

the pit call did hurt Piastri (does the driver get a say in that?

Not long prior to Piastri being told to box, he’d been on the radio saying he didn’t think his tyres would hold on for Plan A (which was presumed to be the 1 stop strategy), and I’m presuming that McLaren were watching Leclerc’s lap times following his switch to the hard rubber and wanted to avoid getting caught out by the undercut.

Maybe if Piastri had been more confident of his medium tyres coming back to life, he’d have been more confident about not needing to pit when he did (which was very early)

  6. Voted for Hülkenberg because why not. He didn’t do great in qualifying but he put a dump truck in 12th with some VSC luck (which wasn’t that great because it forced him into a too long stint on mediums).

  7. Hadjar, Albon and Max. All 3 put in great drives.

  8. Dotw Albon/Hadjar. DOTD Leclerc.

  9. Verstappen, easy. Hadjar had a great weekend too. The Ferrari boys and Russell had good comeback drives.

  10. HAD is driving for the 2nd Red Bull car and deserves a shot.

Will be funny to see what’s his name justifying keeping COL in the seat after 4 more weeks like this but they will keep COL in that seat regardless of results.
