The chequered flag comes down on first practice with Leclerc on top of the times. Here’s the session report.

Verstappen improves to second place, 0.163s off Leclerc.

Incredible shot of Hamilton flying through the air after hitting the kerb at Swimming Pool, he caught Andrea Kimi Antonelli as he turned in. He’s not having much luck with traffic today.

Stroll has been summoned to the stewards after the session over his collision with Leclerc.

Leclerc: “For your info the front-left is gone. I think there is something wrong with the car.”

Hamilton has a high-speed near-miss at Massenet as a driver pulls onto the racing line ahead of him at Massenet, that could have been very nasty.

Isack Hadjar clips the barrier on the inside at Swimming Pool.

Norris is the latest driver to investigate the run-off area at Sainte Devote.

Shortly after complaining his car was “nowhere”, Leclerc lowers the best time of a session to a 1’11.964.

Norris now down to a 1’12.290, Leclerc the only driver within half a second of him.

Verstappen is unhappy at being briefly held up on his way out of the pits.

The McLaren drivers continued to improve their best times, Piastri now down to a 1’13.031, just five thousandths of a second faster than Norris, both on softs. Leclerc a tenth off, also on softs.

Verstappen goes third but is within three-tenths of the McLaren drivers on a set of hard tyres.

Leclerc is back on-track in his repaired Ferrari.

Lando Norris immediately beats that by two tenths of a second, also on softs.

Oscar Piastri puts up the quickest time so far with a 1’13.821 on softs putting him 0.755s ahead of Hamilton on mediums.

The session has resumed and most of the cars head out. Nico Hulkenberg briefly gets held up pulling into the fast lane of the pits.

The session has been red-flagged. Leclerc (and possibly Stroll) has dropped debris around the circuit. The collision between the pair is under investigation.

Replays shows Lance Stroll moved onto the racing line as Leclerc arrived and the pair collided.

But now Leclerc’s crashed! He’s damaged the front wing on his Ferrari and is limping back into the pits. Looks like he might have avoided suspension damage.

He’s on his way now though and temporarily goes quickest, before his time is beaten by the McLarens, Max Verstappen and finally the other Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton on a 1’14.576.

Not a great start for Charles Leclerc who grabs his front-right brake and heads up the escape road at Mirabeau. He reverses out.

Every team has brought new parts for Monaco except Mercedes. The other teams have brought a selection of the usual Monaco customisations including high downforce rear wings (Williams are using their 2024 version), larger brake ducts and suspension tweaks for the Fairmont hairpin.

Of course with this being Monaco no team is taking the risk of running a rookie for practice, so the usual 20 drivers are ready to go.

The first practice session for the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix is coming up next.
