A great controlled victory by Piastri & yet another proof that race control should start ordering an immediate position swap when overtaking or maintaining a position by leaving track limits under the threat of a drive-through penalty if it doesn’t happen by the following corner.
Even though Russell overtaking Leclerc for P3 is far from guaranteed, he could’ve at least tried if he received the position by T4 as should’ve been the case, & Max’s lunge at T5 was clearly deliberate (he could deny that all he wants but no one would believe) by keeping the steering wheel straight.

I don’t see why Verstappen should have had to let Russell by at all. I think it was a bad call from the Red Bull team who were worried about the outsize consequences of a potential time penalty so late in the race.
Verstappen only took to the escape road because Russell hit him. I don’t think the contact from Russell was penalty-worthy, as he was boxed in by Leclerc, but it forced Verstappen off the track and therefore him keeping the position was legitimate.

Being ‘forced’ off doesn’t give a right to gain an advantage by leaving the track in any case, which people seemingly never realize, including drivers.

Yeah, I think Jerejj is right here – Russel had the corner and Max going off did not entitle him to stay ahead.

There’s precedent though for having to give back a position when you gain it by forcing another driver off via contact.
Personally, I’d say Verstappen would have been very hard done by had he kept the position from the initial incident, not let Russell past and then been given a penalty. As it is, his petulance deserves a harder penalty than he’s been given (so far)

I know the grid is full of spoilt rich kids but with whatever went on with Stroll, it’s been a bit of a weekend for temper tantrums.
They really need to make sure it does happen on track.

Well Ferrari, if your driver has to ask why in the race, his race engineer is clearly not doing his job well enough.
Why is for planning, especially if your driver thinks they are leaving the track too soon, IE your driver thought they were going to make the tires last a lot longer, but during the race you betrayed your driver and pulled them in to suite the other driver on the team.
Hamilton has to fire Adami, he is mediocre and will by proxy project this on to his driver, and he is no better than Bono when it comes to defending Hamilton. For Ferrari it seems they seem much more interested in protecting Charles. And so for Hamilton to respect himself, he has to fire Adami and get someone who will stick up for him and not change up strategies or fk up the prerace planning/briefs.

There are now ten teams ahead of Yuki Tsunoda. That must hurt.

The comment of Points available over remaining rounds: 407 for the driver’s championship and then – Points available over remaining rounds: 705 for the manufacturers championship.is incorrect. There are 101 points in each round for drivers in the F1 Race PLUS 36 Points on the four remaining sprint races. So F1 races times 101 = 1,515 points, 4 sprint races = 144 points total available to drivers = 1,659 points.
What you mean are the First Place points availanle.
First place points are races = 15 X 25 = 375, sprints = 4 X 8 = 32. which adds to 407 which are the points available for FIRST place NOT for the remaining rounds as that would be 15 X 101 =1,515 plus 4 X 36 = 144 TOTAL. 1,515 + 144 =1,659
For the manufacturers’ championship the points available are similar overall.
BUT each team’s results for their two cars are added. So the best a team can get is FIRST (25 X 15) + (8 X 4) = 375 + 32 = 407 plus SECOND = (18 X 15) + (7 X 4) = 298 TOTAL is your 705.
again this is not all the points available.

I don’t know what the purpose the calculation you’re proposing would serve, but obviously the available points described above refers to the maximum available for a driver or team, in order to easily judge who is in contention.

I just noticed every team has points, which is great, considering it’s still quite early in the season
