Pirelli and temperatures? Not sure. But WDC nearly a second off pole? Is this the biggest Q3 spread (one and a quarter seconds) recently? Odd…

Odd indeed, especially during a season with so many tight calls and poles by less than a tenth, and at the shortest circuit used to deliver tight gaps… And we end up with such a margin. F1 can surprise!

A shame for Piastri. He could’ve definitely pulled out a final Q3 stunner but Lando was just too quick this weekend. Fantastic lap. I’m still backing 81 for the win.

It wasn’t just Lando’s speed: Piastri was also caught by the yellow flag.

‘A shame for Piastri’ means just that. I’m not sure he could’ve clinched pole but it would have been a lot closer than half a second. By the way, everyone falling over themselves about the gap to second needs to look up nuance in the dictionary.

Great qualit from Lawson. Seems like he finally managed to get his mojo back after struggling post-demotion.
