It is getting more difficult to not say the Ferrari is the faster car.
This was the promise they displayed pre season, but unfortunately couldn’t not deliver results early on.

I’m actually interested on finding out what happened to their pace between pre-season and Australia.

Well done vettel. Just try to keep it together in the race this time.

Looks like Merc and Hamilton will need to wait another race or two before wrapping up their championships. Ferrari certainly had the power to muscle their way to the front and short of tactical error I think that’s where they will stay. RB/Honda a bit behind but well in front of McLaren so they will probably have a bit of a lonely race.

You would think it was all about the power, but Vettel was fastest through the first sector with a 30.2 by a decent margin to the Mercs

Still a big straight though across the line probably took 2 tenths there. Merc should pit early and go to hards forcer Ferrari into something

Would you be kind to show me where you can see the sector times for the qualifying laps?

I don’t see sector times there for their fastest laps. Just the best sector times which may not even be from their fastest lap. Thanks for the link though! @srga91

or 3 hours.

@socksolid
Sorry, I thought you meant overall fastest.
If you’ve got the F1 App, you can re-watch the timing charts and there you see it exactly.

That was a ridiculous lap with an incredible fast first sector. Thought the Mercs would be 3-4 tenths faster in that sector, especially with their new upgrades. Then Ferrari would get that back in the 3rd sector, so all would be decided in the middle sector. But Vettel was having none of that. 30.2 is 1st sector is insane and the Merc weren’t even close to that.

@crystakke Could be that the high winds suit the Ferrari front aerodynamics better.

bottas was hitting 330 at the end of the main straight. It’s that cape upgrade, the car now turns in, from singapore the car isn’t just a low downforce track car.
Ham was nailing the last sector but for some reason s1 and s2 didn’t come together.
not all car, I feel we had an open q between 4 cars possibly due to the tricky conditions, it is a risky track. I don’t think cutting practice is the key for a less pre determined q I think it is down the fact this is a real track, a mistake and you’re gone.

@thegianthogweed and the other Kvyat fanboys have gone quiet after Spa they were ridiculing Gasly and Albon. Albon did something today Gasly could never do. Gasly is now 4-1 against Kvyat hilarious lol, Albon was beating Kvyat in qualifying aswell in his rookie year, more upside to Albon. Gasly is literally ending Kvyat hope of being in a team outside Torro Rosso with this. How is Gasly beating Kvyat so much?. Absoloute amazing result for Albon if he is regularly say 2-3 tenths behind in future he will be a great driver still. Also well done Vettel about time what a lap he needed this big time being beaten 9 times in a row in qually is amazing he as done well to buck that trend and finally gets Hamilton in qually aswell. Ama

Crofty was annoying, kept putting Albon down, at one point he said Albon was again the usual .6 down when in fact he was .4 down, when Albon was .2 down Croft kept questioning it. Croft was speechless for a while after the first run in q3. Croft hurting is all I care this late in the season.
Why was Kvyat signed on a 2 year deal? He has been nowhere since he got out if of STR. his attitude improved after being dropped but his work is still rubbish.

Well done to Ferrari, I think the Mercedes will nail them in race trim if the temps increase though. Its pretty clear since the break and arguably at 2 or 3 races early in the year that the Ferrari was the faster car. I think they will have managed by the end of the year to have arguably the fastest car for most of the races and not delivered anywhere close to their maximum. Maybe they should be looking to poach James…
