Renault has revealed its definitive race livery for the 2020 F1 season and a new title sponsor.
The team will officially compete as Renault DP World F1 Team under the deal with its new United Arab Emirates-based logistics partner. DP World describes itself as “the leading provider of smart logistics solutions”.Renault Sport Racing chairman Jerome Stoll said the tie-up between the two will allow them to “explore ways of improving our efficiency and mitigating our environmental impact.”
“After the ambitions expressed by Formula 1 to become fully carbon neutral by 2030, we are constantly evaluating ways to reduce our carbon footprint and our turnaround time,” he explained. “We expect that working with DP World will reveal opportunities for tangible solutions to some of the logistical challenges faced by our F1 team’s supply chain and by extension, the automotive industry at a larger scale.”

So.. Exactly the same as 2019, and exactly the same as that “interim” livery that Renault moaned about people calling their race livery.

What’s the point of presenting it on last year’s car or parts of last year’s car? Renault is acting as if they’ve got something to hide and I really doubt this is the case. Otherwise, the livery looks nice, the sharper nose cone flatters it much more than last year’s thumb nose and the only visible change is probably the matte black. I wonder what happened to the very first images they presented during their initial “car launch” where it seemed they went for white engine cover and black front of the car with yellow accents and numbers.

Why doubt it? They were actually fast in testing, long run and super soft.

i’m not all that concerned about the colour of the car, I did notice that the nos is not the same the used during testing. I think/hope they have been keeping a low profile and that they have made genuine progress, they need podiums.
They need to Id say if they are to gain continued support from Boulogne-Billancourt into 2021 and beyond.

Make it more black on top or more yellow on the side to give continuity of brand. This livery looks like two different teams when viewed from the different angles.

I agree, I wish it looked more yellow from the side.

Renault’s marketing department are about as good as their chassis department

Spot on! Renault should hire a graphic designer. Even Ricciardo looks sad wearing those colors!
Engineers are not the best options for livery design. They will say something like “let’s make it easy and light”, a little yellow there, some stickers here, and…done!
What about our radical new two-staged round nose? Can we do something to make it look better? Nah! Make it plain yellow like last year’s.
After all, who’s going to see it at 300Kph?

It’s not helping it seems. It looks like Abiteboul design it himself.

Agreed. Say what you want about Formula E but most of their car liveries put F1 to shame.

yeah, this is a trainwreck in terms of presentation.
the livery itself is underwhelming too, i hoped they’d go for something more like 2016, that matte yellow was so nice
Dean Stewart (@dean111181)

I thought the car had that beautifully-evil look (think Apache helicopters etc) about it during testing but the yellow has completely killed that.
It’s like sticking comedy false teeth in Hannibal Lecters’ face mask.

Poor livery design usually reflects poor management and forebodes poor performance.
Example 1: McLaren had a hideous livery when they hit rock bottom in 2017.
Example 2: Williams had a hideous livery when they hit rock bottom last year.
Example 3: The red and white Ferrari of 2016 didn’t win a single race.

I don’t agree about any of them particulary 2 and 3. i liked last year’s Williams. Ferrari 2016 I like more than Ferrari 2019 too
sjordan
11th March 2020, 14:25
I agree with the Williams example. but the red and white Ferrari looks better than the Matte paint they’ve had the last couple of years. although I prefer their 2017 and 2018 liveries.
Mclaren’s 2017 livery looks way better than any of the papaya orange ones they’ve had since they’re just bland and its not that great a shade of orange in my opinion.
Chris Lloyd (@chrisr1718)
11th March 2020, 16:40
Papaya orange is the McLaren colour though, going back to 67/68, and it’s what the fans always wanted. Their testing liveries in 97 and 2006 were also papaya orange.

Why is the one presented with the drivers glossy and shiny, but the one without the drivers, in a concrete bunker, is matt, and the noses are different too.
Have we really seen the definitive design and livery??

Underwhelming is my immediate thought. Pretty much mirrors my expectation for this year’s performance.
Really hope I’m wrong because I’m a massive Dan fan (well I live in Perth so it’s pretty much mandatory) and would like to see Ocon given some decent tools too.
Only Facts!
11th March 2020, 11:27
@dbradock I hope they were working on the car so much that they didn’t have time to come up with a new livery.
How are things down under? People are running like chickens without heads due to corona? Or is the government trying to calm the people down?
Adam
11th March 2020, 21:58
@dbradock I wouldnt write off Renault so quick. For some reason most f1 “journalists” like taking the mick out of Renault. And since most of them go to testing and like to jump the gun and spoke about how bad Renault are they weren’t paying attention to anything they were doing. But their race pace when they done race sims was pretty good. In fact the only people paying attention to Renault were the journalist at the f1 website and they think Renault might be the surprise team of 2020.
