Lando Norris will continue to extend his racing repertoire during the hiatus by entering this week’s Australian Supercars event on iracing.

He will drive a wildcard entry for the Walkinshaw Andretti team on Wednesday’s race which will use the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

“There’s a lot of very fast drivers in it, it’s going to be very tough, very competitive,” said Norris. “But I’ve watched pretty much all of the race so far in the championship and it looks a lot of fun.”

As well as participating in Formula 1’s official Virtual Grand Prix series, Norris entered IndyCar’s iRacing Challenge and won on his debut on the Circuit of the Americas. He was on course to win Saturday’s race on Indianapolis as well before being involved in a controversial challenge with Simon Pagenaud, who declared he would “take Lando out”. The race was won by Australian Supercars driver Scott McLaughlin.

Max Verstappen has already competed in the Australian Supercars All-Star Series, and acquitted himself well in the races held on Silverstone.

Wednesday’s event was originally scheduled to include the Nurburgring as well as Spa, before the organisers elected to use only the Belgian track.

    1. Good thing Paul Morris isn’t racing the supertaxi’s anymore or he would take Norris out for sure ;)

      1. @mobiusclean Though of course Simon Pagenaud’s Penske team has a Supercars squad…

        1. @keithcollantine fortunately led by McLaughlin who has been pretty respectable.

Also fortunately there’s stewards to help prevent the race becoming a farce.

    2. And here I find myself being a hypocrite. I looked forward to Norris at Indy, where I was only watching because of the addition of McLaughlin from Supercars (well, and it being free to watch on demand). Now as a Supercars fan I worry that Norris will come and run rings around all the drivers I normally follow.
I suppose I just want to believe that the SIM racing is realistic enough that the main series drivers should be the best on there too.
