IndyCar has added three more double-header events to its revised 2020 schedule following the cancellation of three races due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The series has called off its race at the Portland circuit in Oregon and its double-header round at Laguna Seca in California, all of which were due to take place in September. The championship said the decision was made in conjunction with the event promoters and they intend to race at the venues again in 2021.To replace those races, IndyCar has announced its planned rounds at Mid-Ohio, Gateway and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course will all become double-header events.
IndyCar has already raced on the grand prix circuit at IMS once this year, which in addition to August’s postponed Indianapolis 500 means this year’s schedule now features four races at the Brickyard.
The series has held seven races since this year’s championship began at Texas Motor Speedway in June. Aside from the Indianapolis 500 and the season finale in St Petersburg on October 25th, all the remaining events will be double-headers.
Last week Formula 1 announced all of its races in the Americas, including the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, had been called off as a consequence of the pandemic.

Is it possible to use any of the different configurations for the IMS road course? Three times the same track has the potential to be a bit dull.

The new generation of Indy car is good. Their Halo solution effective and presents a pretty cool looking Racecar. Even if initially drivers were being cooked alive under such extensive window usage. A new aero part connected to front top edge of their windscreen now keeps the drivers from boiling their brains. The cars look responsive and seem to be effective at all races run. The 500 should be a good one this year. As good as Formula one is year after year know that IndyCar has stepped up this year and the racing is good. See for yourself

I’d say you’re spot on, but I miss the great looking cars of the last couple years (above pic). The screen has already prevented some injuries or worse, so using the Aeroscreen is a no-brainer. It looks reall good from all angles other than from the front where it generates an optical illusion of being flat which it is not. Still the best racing on the planet!

What a shame, but at least it’s better than no racing at all.

Sad to see no Laguna Seca, but mid-Ohio is a fantastic circuit so glad for the double-header there
