  1. Stewards being their usual self.

  2. Masterclass by Max. No one in his league at the moment. Complete domination

    1. I assume you’re referring to his talent and have the best car (as a combo, I’d agree).

    2. Max was ok, he did nothing wrong. But nothing earthshattering either. Just kept ahead uneventfully, he was never challenged after T1.

I’ve never said otherwise this season, but now the case of Red Bull being the new benchmark is becoming more convincing, with all careful considerations due about Mercedes and their massive domination in the last 7 years (to a lesser extent including 2017 and 2018, when Ferrari never looked significantly ahead Mercedes, it was constantly very close until they imploded themselves in the end of the season).

        1. Agree with that, ferrari never looked very much ahead of merc.

    3. Agreed on the masterclass bit. But don’t you think it’s just down to the car like it was for Lewis over the past few years? :-)

This one, indeed looked similar to Hamilton/Mercedes domination as Max Verstappen was never really challenged on the race after lap 1, but let’s not forget his two hard fought victories in terms of car performance this season (Imola and France last week) when he had a slightly slower car in raw race pace, but with the edge so slim that it allowed him to defend and attack for the wins.

      2. The statement was a bit tongue in cheek on my part. If you search “masterclass” in the comments or forums on this site, the amount of times the superlative has been bestowed on one Lewis Hamilton when utterly dominating a race due to a superior car is astonishing.

  3. DOTD: LEC, but Kimi was also pretty good despite not finishing in the points.

    1. There is no way LeClerc deserved DotD! He was responsible for causing Gasly’s puncture on the run up to turn 3. Why the stewards decided not to investigate is absurd.

      1. I wholeheartedly agree. Should have been investigated

      2. Due to puncture on Gasly’s car couple of other drivers also had their races ruined on lap 1. Stewards didnt investigate for 2 reasons.

Another splendid race for Ricciardo. What a driver he is. So useless this season.

McLaren needs to fire this guy ASAP and try to bring in Russell at least for the remainder of the 2021 season.

Thats pretty harsh on Daniel–that being said, Mclaren will indeed start thinking otherwise if they start going backwards in the WCC. They have a 12 point gap now. Daniel’s position wont come under scrutiny as long as that leads exists or extends.
It pains to say this, but yes, Mclaren are stuck with Daniel for the time being.

As I put on a different thread: I mean he started very well before losing power (and 4 or 5 positions) and getting put on a poor strategy…

        @webtel

Sadly its only a matter of time until McLaren loses the 3rd place in WCC to Ferrari because Ricciardo is underperforming

        1. It’s really sad, yes, because in general you can’t keep a driver perform like ricciardo is doing, but we’re also talking about a driver who, albeit not at the level of speed verstappen, leclerc etc. can give, should still be among the fastest of the grid at his best, it’s really weird he can’t perform consistently at mclaren.

    2. (said on a different thread) Why does it sound like that you’re saying that Norris, Ricciardo, Vettel, Stroll and Latifi are eligible for the Mercedes substitution seat?

  5. A dominating win for Max and an excellent comeback from Ferrari after their debacle in France.
Perhaps the only two things this race will be remembered for…if that’s even going to happen.

  6. Bottas relived to be on the podium…
Who knows the way things are going, cherish them all, cos it could be your last!

  7. Updated F1.5 classification. Norris and McL keep dominating. A step back for Ocon, losing his early advantage
