It was confirmed earlier today at the Autosport International Show that Andy Priaulx will return to the BTCC this season, driving for West Surrey Racing alongside Sam Tordoff and one other – as yet unconfirmed – driver.
In other recent news, Nick Foster has confirmed his retirement, and 2013 Champion Andrew Jordan has moved from family-run team Eurotech (of which 2015 returnee Jeff Smith is now co-owner) to the 888 MG outfit, along with his Pirtek sponsorship.
It also looks as though Honda will return with Dynamics and Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden, but it looks likely they’ll run the new Type R instead of the Estate.
I for one an thrilled to see Priaulx back, and the car looks amazing!
Priaulx has had a horrible couple of years since he went to DTM, hope he shows some good form as he is certainly an excellent driver. And he will be driving for the team that won the Driver’s Championship last season, it should be a strong combination.
Rumours are that Turkington will not be back at WSR now the Ebay sponsorship has gone so I really hope he gets a decent drive. Surely lightning won’t strike twice and he’ll be able to defend his title this time round. Plato also won’t be back at Triple 8 MG, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
