ParticipantThe British Touring Car Championship has confirmed it will have a record capacity entry list of 32 entrants for the 2014 season. This has been confirmed after all 32 of the new TBL’s (TOCA BTCC License) were allocated during the pre-registration process, which closed on 30 November.

Meanwhile it looks as though Frank Wrathall will not be one of those 32 entries after CCTV evidence showed him overtaking a cyclist, cutting across his path and then causing a collision while holding his mobile phone. He has pleaded not guilty but it looks pretty certain what will happen, however a decision will be made in January (I forget the exact date however).
He also sent this tweet to a fan:
@frenchy01 up in the air at the moment, I do have first refusal on 11 though!

I have tweeted him asking as well although I’m not expecting a response.

ParticipantThat’s great to hear. Nice that at least one major UK series seems to be in good health.

ParticipantLooks like it’ll be an interesting series! I see a lot of different cars lined up for BTCC. I was hoping to see a list like this (of drivers, teams, and different cars) for WTCC but it doesn’t look as promising.
Nothing wrong with another racing series to follow! =)

ParticipantThat’s exciting news. As if the BTCC wasn’t entertaining enough already! I was just thinking the shorter circuits especially (e.g. Brands Hatch Indy) are going to be packed!

KeymasterI was a fan of Frank but he should be going down for what he did. baring a mistrial he doesn’t really have any chance i’d say.
United Autosports have bought their assets anyway now and their slot on the grid so i’m not overly sure how he’d come back. not very sponsor appealing now.
really looking forward to the media launch now!

Participant@ratboy – Oh, United Autosports actually bought their assets? I thought they only bought the car, and I wasn’t even sure if it was the most recent one.

ParticipantI haven’t followed since the end of the Supertouring era. Any recent “must-watch” races that someone like myself could watch to get familiar with the series as it is now?

ParticipantSilverstone Race 2, Croft Race 3 and Oulton Park Race 3 are three from this year which are worth a watch.

ParticipantGuessing United Autosports have also bought Adam Morgan’s Toyota now he’s switched to a Mercedes for 2014

KeymasterWould that we might ever have such a headline about F1…
Great news for the BTCC, particularly as it’s the premier racing series that’s entirely live on free-to-air television in the UK these days. Will be at Brands Hatch for the season opener with @ratboy no doubt!

InactiveIf only the British GT championship had the same free-to-air TV access.
Good news for the BTCC though. nice to see the licence introduced and some proper teams and drivers coming in. I’ll be supporting United Autosports next season I think, I think they stand a chance at some decent results.
Did I see that MG are entering a 3rd car this time round?

Tordoff not confirmed as a 3rd driver yet though? Seems silly not to snap him up as soon as possible again.

ParticipantI’ve got to admit I’ve never properly heard of Marc Hynes before now but he certainly looks like he could do well, he was of course the 1999 British F3 Champion.
