Participant@fastiesty Just use this site to see the different Champions under different points systems, http://f1-facts.com/statistics/regulations-comparison
The most recent champions that could have been in the old point systems are Felipe Massa 2008, Eddie Irvine 1999, Damon Hill 1994, Alain Prost 1988, Nigel Mansel 1986 and probably some more after that.

ParticipantAh thanks! I knew it must have been somewhere. Kingshark – I know what you mean, it’s hard to get involved with numbers like 170 – 130, however at the end of the season I do like the complexity it gives looking back at everything. Barely anything could have changed to make a minor points swing. But mid-season it feels too complex!

Participant“Who else here agrees that with this points system, the WDC feels a lot more exciting?”
Seeing as it’s almost exactly the same…

ParticipantWow Mercedes would have lost to Ferrari… actually for a 22 car grid I think the points system from 2003-2009 would have been perfect, almost half the field getting points is a little excessive IMO; top 10 for 24 cars seem fine but for 22 it seems a bit much.
