The credit for the idea of this thread originally goes to sumedhvidwans, who made the original topic on the 2009 season.

Now, I am going to do the exact same to the 2010 season and see how things varied and changed throughout.

    Round 1: Abu Dhabi
Sebastian Vettel takes pole position from Hamilton and wins the race. The Mclaren’s finish second and third. Alonso only 7th and Massa 10th due a strategic mistake from Ferrari, same so for Webber who finished 8th.

    1.) Vettel – 25 pts
    2.) Hamilton – 18 pts
    3.) Button – 15 pts
    4.) Rosberg – 12 pts
    5.) Kubica – 10 pts
    7.) Alonso – 6 pts
    8.) Webber – 4 pts
    10.) Massa – 1 pt

    Round 2: Brazil
Hulkenberg dramatically takes pole position ahead of the Red Bull’s in a wet qualifying session at Interlagos. The race is not so dramatic, both RBR’s pass young Nico early on and control the race from there.

    1.) Vettel – 50 pts
    2.) Hamilton – 30 pts
    3.) Button – 25 pts
    4.) Webber – 22 pts
    5.) Alonso – 21 pts
    6.) Rosberg – 20 pts
    7.) Kubica – 12 pts
    13.) Massa – 1 pt

    Round 3: Korea
In a dramatic race in the monsoon conditions neither Red Bull finish. At last Ferrari get their first win of the season with Alonso ahead of Hamilton and Massa.

    2.) Hamilton – 48 pts
    3.) Alonso – 46 pts
    4.) Button – 25 pts
    5.) Webber – 22 pts
    6.) Kubica – 22 pts
    7.) Rosberg – 20 pts
    8.) Massa – 16 pts

    Round 4: Japan
A generic and rather boring Grand Prix. Red Bull lock out the front row. Kubica does well early on but loses his wheel during the SC period. Hamilton does well to recover from a penalty, but has a gearbox problem. Vettel wins ahead of Webber and Alonso.

    1.) Vettel – 75 pts
    2.) Alonso – 61 pts
    3.) Hamilton – 58 pts
    4.) Webber – 40 pts

    6.) Kubica – 22 pts
    7.) Rosberg – 20 pts
    8.) Massa – 16 pts

    Round 5: Singapore
Alonso takes pole position when everyone was expecting it to be Vettel’s. He controls the race from the front. Hamilton is involved in a controversial incident with Webber. Nonetheless, Alonso wins ahead of the RBR’s.

    Round 7: Belgium

    Round 9: Germany
Vettel snatches pole position from Alonso by a mere 2 thousandths of a second, but is swamped by both Ferrari’s at the start. Later on Ferrari team orders force Massa to move over for Alonso. Alonso wins ahead of Massa and Vettel.

    Round 16: China
In a dramatic Grand Prix event, the rain causes to spice up the Chinese GP big time. Button wins his first race of the season ahead of teammate Hamilton and Rosberg. Red Bull only manage 6th and 8th, Alonso still manages fourth despite the drive through penalty.

    Round 18: Australia
Another dramatic race affected by the wet weather. Button yet again takes victory with a brilliant strategic call. A brake failure means Vettel doesn’t finish. Alonso progresses his way through the field despite his spin on lap 1. Hamilton and Webber both have very disappointing races.

    A few things I noticed.

The first 6 rounds were all won by only 2 drivers. Vettel or Alonso, it was not up until round 7, the Belgian GP where another race winner of the season was actually crowned, Hamilton.

Sebastian Vettel, who has never lead the championship before in his career until Abu Dhabi, now lead all the way up until round 6 in Monza. He also lead a total of 13 out of 19 rounds in the championship.

Ferrari’s team orders in Germany would then have been considered far more reasonable and appropriate. Because at that time, Alonso was leading the championship while Massa had some 70 points deficiency to his teammate.

The season finale would be far more exciting! The final 10 laps of the Bahrain Grand Prix. Vettel is coasting to the finish with a sick Red Bull whose missing a cylinder. Alonso is leading and cruising to victory. Vettel cannot fall below 5th place no matter what. He can afford If he is overtaken by Rosberg, but if he loses another place to Schumacher, who is only 4 seconds behind, then the championship is lost!

Hah, interesting! Really shows how important the mishaps in the first three races of the season were for the title battle. (The actual first 3, not backwards!)

I won’t mention the deliberate mistake in the Turkey round up! ;)

Indeed. Every race is equally relevant for the championship. It’s just that the final races of the season seem to get more recognition because people will always perceive them as being more important.

    Great!

Imagine if Valencia was the last race of the season. Championship standings before the race
    1) Alonso 248 points
    2) Webber 242 points
    3) Vettel 231 points
    4) Hamilton 222 points

Hamilton is already out of the championship. Alonso qualifies 4th and Webber 2nd, if they finish the race according to the qualifying order, Alonso is champion. More good luck for Alonso as Webber has a bad start and Alonso is up to third. He only needs 5th place to win the championship now (even if Vettel wins).

And then, disaster strikes! Safety car. Stewards deliberate for ever. Fernando cannot pit in time like the rest of the field behind and ahead of him. He finishes the race in P9. Stewards issue a meager five second penalty to drivers who speeded into the pits jsut before the safety car came out.

Home hero Alonso (alongwith the whole of Spain) is furious and claims that the whole race and championship was manipulated!
