I have noticed over the course of the season, that Hamilton is struggling on the friday to nail the set-up whereas Rosberg is quickly finding a comfortable set-up. This is understandable as Rosberg is in his 4th yr driving the Merc but it still interests me that Hamilton is struggling to set up his W04. If you take Silverstone for example, Hamilton was 0.6 off the pace on the friday, and we all know what he done in qualifying. China is another example where Rosberg completely dominated him on friday, but Hamilton took pole by 0.3 of a second. In an interview yesterday he said he’s still not feeling 100% with the car, that is worrying for his rivals given his current pace in the WO4.

You don’t win races on Fridays.
Teams don’t use the Friday sessions simply to dial the car in for ultimate one lap pace, indeed the times in FP1 and FP2 are often well off what is achieved in qualifying. The teams run a set program for the practice sessions, and the drivers are on different programs, so their results are rarely comparable.
