Keymaster@ritvik-vinodkumar Great video. This is the second race at the Eurospeedway Lausitz that year. Hamilton was in his second year in F3, Vettel his first.
Hamilton went on to pass van der Garde to win the race – he won an astonishing 15 out of 20 races that year, and was disqualified for a technical infringement after winning a further one ‘on the track’.
The following year Hamilton progressed to GP2 and Vettel finished runner-up in the F3 Euroseries to his new team mate – Paul di Resta.

InactiveI love seeing these battles years later – looking at the drivers who went on to become greats, and those who became nothing is incredible, as it makes you wonder who of the current drivers in feeder series will become world champions.
These are the standings of that season.16th October 2011, 16:20 at 4:20 pm #183017matt90
ParticipantSo unlucky for Di Resta to get a better result than Vettel then get sidelined out of single seaters. It’s interesting to wonder would could have happened if he hadn’t had to go to DTM. Then again, I think the same about Senna and where he might be if he hadn’t spent 10 years out of racing. Senna could well prove to be a great driver, but then there will always be the thought that he could be even better, as he’ll always be down 10 years experience on what he could have.
Thanks for the video, was great to see that.

ParticipantThis is quality! The cars kinda look like 2009 F1 cars as well.

Kubica, Di Resta plus Adrian Sutil (Hamilton’s then team mate at ASM) and Lucas Di Grassi.@Bleeps_and_Tweaks
The cars were all Dallara F305s but the F3 Euroseries wasn’t and isn’t a spec formula – the teams are free to develop the chassis and there’s a free choice of engine supplier (teams used Mercedes, Opel, Toyota and Mugen-Honda in 2005). Not intending to detract from Hamilton’s domination of the year, but he was driving for the then dominant ASM team.18th October 2011, 8:45 at 8:45 am #183026Icthyes
