ParticipantThe problem is, even though he has Schumacher as a team mate for three years, it was hard to gage just how good Rosberg was, because of the team mates he had. Now there is no shadow of a doubt in my mind that Rosberg is a very good driver, and though it’s hard to tell at the moment, it’s hard to argue that Rosberg isn’t the faster of the two, at least in quali trim.
It will be easier to tell after the end of this year, or next, but for now I think Rosberg is the better of the two.

Participanthttp://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/22667887 Hamilton’s said he’s struggling with the car, and has been all season. Some might say its a bit convenient for it to come out now for the first time in his career someone’s faster than him in qualifying trim, but if true we should expect Hamilton to get on top of the job as the season goes on. If he really is struggling then being less than a tenth behind in a car not to his liking is pretty impressive I guess. I still think Hamilton is the better driver, and I expect him to improve as the season goes on.

ParticipantAnd in April he said the Mercedes was his favourite F1 car to drive:

ParticipantWith Rosberg winning at Monaco, and Hamilton slipping to 4th (because he gave away too much time to avoid stacking in the pits behind Nico), what’s people’s thoughts on this now? I’m not convinced yet that Nico is better than Lewis, but Nico is certainly more than a match for him.
I also wonder how long it will take Lewis to bounce back. That was the same question we asked of Schumacher, and it took him a year and a half before he started to be truly consistently competitive against Nico. Lewis can’t afford to take too long.

ParticipantI really think not enough people give Rosberg the credit he’s due. First with Schumacher, it was that he was returning to the sport and needed time to readjust, then it was because Schumacher was old and clearly past his prime. Now with Hamilton, people seem to be making excuses for why Rosberg has been outperforming him.
I’m not saying Hamilton’s been driving badly at all, because he’s been driving very well in my view. But Rosberg’s been driving that little bit better so far.
Ultimately, Nico Rosberg is more than a match for Lewis Hamilton, however you look at it.

ParticipantI agree with MG and King, people are not giving Nico enough credit. When the Merc/Ham was first announced along with all the engineering recruiting Brawn has done, I remember saying It’s Nico’s year. Finally he has the car behind him to get results. Taking nothing away from Hamilton, Nico will be hard to beat.

This year is a write-off for Mercedes by now anyway, as long as he’s back on the pace by the start of next season he wont have missed anything.

ParticipantI think with Nico’s rise and Hamilton… MB AMG may have the best 1-2 Combo (arguments can be made for Vet/Web)

ParticipantRosberg certainly is faster than I expected, but people get too hyped too quickly. Hamilton is not 100% with this car, and Rosberg duly is taking advantage; I think as soon as Hamilton gets on top of the car, Rosberg wont be able to match him. Take Monaco, Rosberg was much faster all weekend; Hamilton said after qualifying that he struggled to get the brakes up to temperature all weekend, but in his final Q3 run, after sector one he finally felt his brakes were fully upto to temp and surprise surprise, he went purple is S2 and S3. In conclusion, is Rosberg faster than Hamilton? Right now, yes; will it last? no.

Well, so far Rosberg hasn’t been able to take advantage due no fault of his own. Mechanical failure in Australia and China, along with team orders in Malaysia has prevented him from doing so.

That’s something very similar people said about Schumacher back in 2010, and it took much longer than expected. Though he’s finally receiving the credit he deserves, IMO Rosberg is still underrated by many.

ParticipantI’ve never really thought of Nico as a great driver, I would just have to say he is making the most of what he has and generally just doing a better job at it than Lewis at this stage in the season. Give it another few rounds and we can take a better evaluation of if he is ‘faster’. Perhaps he is gentler on his tyres that enables him to run slightly longer, and drives less aggressive than Lewis. He may well have adapted to this periods tyres better Lewis has as well.
I would say at this stage he is performing better, but not so much ‘faster’

InactiveRosberg is as fast as Hamilton, at least for the moment.
The reason Rosberg isn’t talked about like the others is he is not “in your face” like some other drivers. He is fast, very level headed and I think he may pip Lewis for the points this year. A good battle I hope.
May be better than in some other top teams where they older may punch the junior this year-haha!!
Still a future WDC for mine!! And I loved to see his Dad race (but only 10-12 though!!)

ParticipantI do love me some Di Resta and Sutil…. Force India is my team ;) followed closely by AMG Petronas… so I am very happy with how Monoco played out… wish Hamilton passed Webber… but proud of Paul Di Resta and Sutil was on a mission… a rare besting of Alonso
