Years where someone won more races than the WDC … so next is ……

I think @paulgilb got this one so let’s start another. What comes next in this sequence:

    Whitehead: 1
    Scheckter: 18
    Fittipaldi: 35
    ?

I’m not really sure, but my educated guess would be Schumacher 180.

I think I’m working along the same lines as @Alonshow, but I reckon Schumacher: 182

@alonshow @casanova Both on the right lines but neither of you has it yet…

Tough one. I’m gonna say: number of races finished outside the points
    Pierluigi Martini 52

    How about Fabi: 2?

I suppose it’s the number of starts from a brother/sibling pairing with the one with the fewer starts being listed, but I’m having difficulties finding the next one. Ralf Schumacher has way too many starts, and most other pairings (like Winkelhock or Rodriguez) have too few starts by the less experienced driver. Probably I’m missing someone obvious.

I’m trying really hard here. Whitehead: 1, Scheckter: 18, and Fittipaldi: 35 are the number of races started (not participated in) by F1 drivers who had an F1 driver brother who was more successful than them. There have been eight other F1 drivers in the same situation. Their number of race starts are:

    Brambilla Ernesto 0
    Winkelhock Joachim 0
    Villeneuve Jacques 0
    Stewart Jimmy 1
    Rodríguez Ricardo 5
    Rathmann Dick 5
    Fabi Corrado 12
    Schumacher Ralph 180

None of those numbers seems to fit the series in any way. The best I’ve got is that each of the three drivers in the series was born in a different continent, but that doesn’t seem very helpful. So I think I’m giving up.

@alonshow Yeah, that was my thinking too. I went with Stewart as I wondered if the sequence was that the more successful brother had an increasing number of championships to their name: Jackie Stewart being the only option with 3 WDCs.

@tomd11 @alonshow @kaiie @casanova @srga91 OK it’s been a week so I’m going to call this one. Many of you were close but no one made it to the right answer:

    Whitehead: 1
    Scheckter: 18
    Fittipaldi: 35
    Schumacher: 157

The sequences is the number of races started by both of these siblings together. Michael and Ralf Schumacher appeared together in 157 races.

OK so let’s start a new one. Complete this sequence:

    Consalvo Sanesi
    Jose Froilan Gonzalez
    Ricardo Rodriguez
    ?
