ParticipantI think I have the pattern… qualifying position on debut? I’ll take a wild guess at:
Jacques Villeneuve (1st)

Keymaster@Ben-n Got it. There were a few other answers too. And for a bonus point, these were all drivers who started on the front row on their debut.
Do you want to start another question or shall I?

ParticipantGreat, I’ll go for it!
This sequence is only a section of a much larger pattern, I’m looking for the next name on the list:
Alex Wurz – 1997
Alex Wurz – 2005
Robert Kubica – 2006

ParticipantIs it a third driver to get a chance half-way through a season and score a point? In which case the next name would be Vettel – 2007.

Participant@kevincucamest – not quite what I’m looking for I’m afraid.
HINT – the next driver in the sequence competed in all the Grand Prix that year (unlike the three in the pattern I listed).

ParticipantYeah I also then remembered about Timo Glock’s one-off appearance in 2004 for Jordan… Is it that they all had a podium finish as their only points-scoring finish that year? So the next one would be Fisichella – 2009?

Participant@kevincucamest – that’s right! Drivers with their only points finish coming from a single podium in a season.
Fisichella is next on the list, with his 2nd place in Spa 2009 (where he nearly won) strangely being his only points finish all season. Interestingly, he nearly made the list in 2003 as well when his win in Brazil was only added to by a 7th place in Indianapolis.
Well done – over to you!

ParticipantThank you!
Name the next driver on the list:
Mario Andretti
James Hunt
Lewis Hamilton

ParticipantFernando Alonso (winners of World Championship races at Fuji Speedway)?
1st June 2019, 1:19 at 1:19 am #396349Cucamest
Participant@paulgilb That’s exactly it! Andretti in 1976, Hunt in 1977, Hamilton in 2007 and Alonso in 2008! This one may have been a bit too easy! Over to you!

ParticipantComplete this sequence: Raikkonen, Fisichella, Vettel, …?
2nd June 2019, 4:39 at 4:39 am #396393Cucamest
ParticipantKubica, order of finishers of the 2009 Belgian GP.
2nd June 2019, 11:28 at 11:28 am #396397paulgilb
Participant@kevincucamest: True, but not the answer I was after I’m afraid.

Keymaster@paulgilb Think you’re going to have to offer a clue here!
