i have a proposal to the red flag rules that so annoyed so many of us yesterday. My changes would be a follows:

When a race is suspended under the red flag and all cars are made to stop on the start/finish straight, where any changes to a car are necessary the following changes shall be made:

1. Where safe to do so any car requiring any work to be carried out, for any reason, shall return to the pits. If it is safe to do so the cars can then return to the start/finish straight but must stop at the back of the field in the order they are released from the pits.

2a. Where it is not possible to return to the pits work may take place on the start/finish straight but once the race has started, under the safety car, any car that has been worked on shall take a drive through penalty at the first pass past the pits and shall join at the back of the queue in the order they entered the pit lane.

Or

2b. Where it is not possible to return to the pits after the first pass under the safety car, work may take place on the start/finish straight but once the safety car leads the procession any car that has been worked on shall let all other cars be released first and join at the back of the queue.

The only exeption shall be a direction from race control to change tyres due to a change in weather conditions.

Anyone got any better ideas?
