We now have a basic idea of where the circuit will be:

“The route agreed includes the main Ratchadamnoen Avenue, with the track using Din So Road to the Giant Swing and Wat Suthat Temple and then down to the Grand Palace and the Navy Club, with a run close to the Chao Phraya River. The paddock and grandstands would be located principally in the Sanam Luang park.”

Based on that description, here’s what it could look like:

It’s sound to long at 8.8ish km and it’s a tilkedrome so therefore I’m not going to like but this begs the question, when will someone other than tilke design an f1 circuit?

That circuit is more like four kilometres long. @cumulonimbus appears to have drawn the lap in one direction, and then gone back over it in the opposite direction.

This is probably closer to the kind of circuit that we will see:

And @roblo97, there is no evidence that Tilke is designing this particular circuit. He is known to be designing one in Thailand, but it’s actually about 400km away from Bangkok.

And it doesn’t look like a Tilkedrome to me. Anyway, can anybody offer an armchair expert’s view on overtaking moves possible on that circuit?

Though the final attempts were pretty close, we were all wrong:

Assuming that Keith’s educated guess is, in fact, representative of what the circuit will look like, and that the narrow roads would be considered acceptable, then this is probably what I would have done instead:

However, it is a kilometre longer than what the organisers plan.
