    Why are people so insistent to cancel the Bahrain GP??? Maybe we should cancel the British GP because of the olympics???? Remember what happened when a large number of Brits got together last time??? #londonriots

    @realracer – Some people believe the race should be cancelled because of instability and political violence in the country. Other people believe that the race should be cancelled to send a message to the Bahraini government: that oppressing their own people is unacceptable.

    I trust him, like him or not he has bought Formula 1 to places no-one did, and has made it a massive sport, to the point where one of the leading broadcasting companies in the world has made a channel dedicated to the sport. There isn’t a Sky Sports Golf HD out there, or a Sky Sports WRC HD, and the main reason why Sky Sports F1 HD exists is because of Bernie and how he has elevated the sport to the next level

    @sam3110 – That’s precisely what I’m talking about. Bernie didn’t get the sport to where it is now by making poor decisions.

    Does anybody know if Bahrain has hosted any international sports events since the start of the riots, before next weekend’s race?

    These have all been fairly recently. In fact two of them today as response of the decision. I really don’t think it is a good idea to go.

    a) the event is likely to be highly secure and unpleasant

    b) money talks

    c) if you oppose the event on moral grounds, i’ll remind you this week’s chinese hosts are second only to hitler and stalin in terms of how they treat people.
