You’d think that, by now, college educated students would realize that they are being manipulated by other interests. A $300/year tuition hike (even if it’s for 7 years) is not the massive threat to their personal well being that would cause this response. They already pay the lowest tuition rates in all of Canada.

Yah, the cancellation of Thursday is sad…….. I have such strong opinions against these students that I won’t bother posting here as it’s just completely off-topic.

But I spent some extra money to be in Montreal earlier specifically for Thursday morning and other arrangements that now were all for nothing. Oh well, hopefully, the city is still as vibrant and safe as I was there several years ago.

You’ll find plenty to do here Thursday. Enjoy yourself.

i am disappointed too… we are coming from the states on wednesday night specifically to make it to the pit walk on thursday… so, now we’ve spent money on an extra night in a hotel for nothing… at least i’ve heard that montreal is a great city, so we’ll explore some of the sites on thursday…

any more rumors about disruption of the metro on sunday? are people going to take the ferry instead?

Does anyone know if my Grandstand 33 ticket will give me access to the area at the foot of the casino bridge, inside the circuit? I’m due to meet someone there on Friday.

@S2G-Unit thanks for the info, that sounds like fun…

i don’t see why they just don’t make it an event that you need a ticket for? sure, some people that would attend won’t be able to go, but the people that have a ticket to the GP should be able to get in for the pit walk….

    for F1antics:
Your GS33 ticket will allow you everywhere except the Senna S and the gold grandstand areas at the start-finish. Should be good to the Casino bridge.

Having never been to a grand prix before, is there any way besides the cancelled Thursday stuff to get to see the teams up close and/or meet a few drivers?

Like Luke B, I`m keen to know if there are any other opportunities to get close to the drivers. I promised my kids that they would get a chance to at least wave at them, maybe get an autograph/photo but now that looks impossible following the cancellation of the open day.

Is it worth waiting near the VIP entrance (I assume there is one) and try to catch the drivers as they arrive? If so, what sort of time would that be?

You’ll have to try to be lucky & catch them downtown at some kind of sponsorship event. I don’t know where to check though.

Honestly, you’ll probably run into one or two if you keep off the main really busy Crescent & St-Laurent streets.

-Last year, I met Jenson & a few McLaren boys at the Nelligan hotel in Old Montreal. This was Sunday after the race. The hotel has a beautiful open terrace (if it doesn’t rain). You’ll probably have a good chance at the bar after race. Either way, the Old Port (Old Montreal) will give you a few things to do including the Star Wars Identities Exhibition (if you like Star Wars).

-2 Years ago I ran into Lewis’ dad at this restaurant. On Peel street there are a lot of more upscale resto’s. Maybe you’ll catch some people leaving if your lucky.

-3 years ago, I caught Fernando walking down Peel street with only his girlfriend.

As for VIP entrance, there isn’t one really. You can only get to the track from one side (2 bridges or helicopter). You probably see them driving in across the bridge onto the circuit but you won’t be able to get an autograph.

If you guys need more info or things to do let me know,

    @bigdaddyc

You kids will get somewhat of a chance to wave at the drivers during the parade on Sunday morning. We are very fortunate at our track to be able to sit so close. They won’t be too far from the drivers during that parade.

Thanks for the info S2G-Unit, we’ll totally try our luck at those downtown/Old town spots based on your advice.

I’ll share any pics we get :)

Just to let everyone know, Kimi Raikkonen will be part of the TW Steel sponsorship event signing autographs on Rue Crescent at 6pm Thurs strikers permitting.
