And since the Track was en route to my Hotel I drove by to admire the view.
The tower is visible for miles away from the track, Like a shining Beacon for F1. So looking forward to seeing the track tomorrow. But for now heading into Austin to take in the city.

21st November 2012, 11:28 at 11:28 am #213019Rachel ClarkeParticipantI loved the whole weekend. Having visited Austin many times before, I knew the town would be great. They rose to the occasion brilliantly. Then the transport worked, the volunteers on circuit and elsewhere were lovely, security was fine (as in not too nitpicky), the facilities at the circuit were generally Ok and the track looked wonderful and delivered a great race to watch. The fans were crazy and provided a great atmosphere. Fully recommend going to the event!!!
All my photos are on Flickr – they include the FOTA Fan Forum, a business event on the Thursday and 3 days at the track. As there were roaming seats for practices (all 3), got some shots from T1, although most were from T12, my seat for the race. I’ve also got some paddock/garage shots following a tour from Santander on the Sunday.

Watched the replay on TV and it doesnt do justice to the place.. the changes in elevation are great and they dont look as steep as they are on the tv angles…

Note: almost all my pics were taken with a Canon series 18-55mm kit lens with polariser. My friend who I went with actually bought a dslr for the event and Im sure he wasnt the only one there as a novice photter. Shows that with a little patience some surprisingly good shots can be obtained with only a modest amount of kit.
4th December 2012, 0:44 at 12:44 am #213023Keith CollantineKeymaster@midgeman, @joac21, @newdecade – Some great pictures from all of you there! Looks like there’s some really good vantage points at the Circuit of the Americas. I particularly like the one of the P34.
4th December 2012, 1:29 at 1:29 am #213024joac21ParticipantThanks! @keithcollantine i think if you go with the sole objective of taking good pics you can really do some great ones.. but this was my 1st race and i wanted to see the cars rather being busy taking pics…
