Did anyone see this? https://www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk/2020/08/le-mans-to-be-held-behind-closed-doors/
I half expected them to stay virtual. It’s not the same without the fans and obviously the tracks aren’t going to get anywhere near the same revenues from the races. I had hoped to go to Le Mans this year with my son and grandson but that’s not…[Read more]
Have they released what layout of the Portimao circuit they will use yet? I personally hope they use the Bahrain Turn 1/2 style layout, with the tighter hairpin at Torre Vip to aid overtaking opportunities.
I would really like other fan input here. Being a race fan I wanted to use my business that makes photo books to offer fans a photo book of all the 2020 races created by the teams – exclusive pictures and content. Each team creates their own and shares with its fans via a web link I have created – you can buy previous races and order the next.…[Read more]

The 2020 Formula 1 season will finally begin next week – but it will do so behind closed doors.
Races will be held without fans for the foreseeable future due to the pandemic. But
with the season likely to continue until mid-December, there’s time for that to change.
Do you think F1 will get to hold any races with fans this year? When and where…[Read more]

Four hundred and sixty-six.
This is the number of drivers who have reached a Top 10 position in any Formula 1 World Championship race. That’s in 1006 GPs (I did exclude the Indy 500s in my database). So if you take away the very first race, you get a new driver showing up in this elite group every 2-3 races.
I just finished this database, where I…[Read more]

We’re less than a month away from the first race of 2020, Mercedes have been testing today, the long-delayed start of the season may finally be upon us.

Having taken the unprecedented step of arranging second races at some venues this year – Red Bull Ring and Silverstone to begin with – Formula 1 wishes to find a way of differentiating the two in a meaningful way.
The fanciful suggestion it could run some tracks in the reverse direction is not going to happen (at least not without huge investment…[Read more]
Has the pandemic affected your plans to visit a race this year? Have you had to cancel plans to go to an F1 race or round of another championship – IndyCar, WEC, Formula E?
Let us know below.
I’ve been taking advantage of the free month of F1TV to watch some old races. Apart from finding out that the 2012 Australian GP had far more going on than I remember from being trackside (the only F1 race I’ve attended), I’ve gone back to see what was available from the first few years that I remember watching (starting with the 1993 European GP…[Read more]
Hello F1 fans,
I’m planning to go to Hungarian GP in 2021 so I’m just wondering – is it possible to watch races through the circuit’s fence? On TV there are some people sitting on ground behind fences. Do you still need to pay to be able to watch a race that way?
I have never been to any GP so far. Tickets are very expensive and from what I not…[Read more]

Does anyone know of any detailed accounts of a driver/rider’s relationship with a race engineer? A really good online article, interview or even an autobiography from an F1/Indy/Le Mans/WRC driver. I am after specifically how a driver can feel the car/bike and convert it into terms the engineer can understand.
For context, I am…[Read more]
I’m a bit bored in isolation, so I was recently thinking about this. How will we remember F1 drivers – by driving for which team?
It’s easy for some – when we think of Mika Hakkinen, we picture him driving a McLaren, as he did for most of his career. I suppose we will always associate Michael Schumacher with Ferrari, despite his success at…[Read more]
