I just read some other article about the old A1 GP cars being used in South Africa this year, and got to thinking about the lifetime of old racing cars.

Some cars naturally hold value and have a fantastic and active retirement, like most F1 cars. Buy anything from GP2 down is fair game to a crusher unless collected I’m guessing.

So I wonder what happened to all those old GP2 cars that can’t be fed down to national series (like F3) or different classes (like Formula Ford)? Surely the carbon monocoque’s would prove difficult to recycle or efficiently dispose of?

Sure, the odd one gets used on hillclimb’s come to think about it, but that hardly makes a full grid of cars.
