Fair enough, 8×3 would be preferable but they’ve been pragmatic and allowed 7×4. Considering the strength and momentum of FIA F3, GP3 must be riskier for teams to join. An extra seat at all teams will give an outlet for a possible influx of progressing FIA F3 pay drivers, if that series is limited to say 33 cars and 3×11 teams.

PaddockScout said that
The additional permitted entry per outfit, which the series said follows a request from the teams themselves, will now mean up to 28 cars could be fielded.
So 28 drivers is good for c’ship. Moreover, I wanna do a silly season now, but we…[Read more]

Interesting, I guess it shows what happens when team numbers and consequently driver numbers decline. I’m surprised they capped it at 22; 24 makes more sense, allowing DAMS or another team to run an extra driver, but most likely only ART wishes to.
It’s probably better to have a full grid at all times, rather than entries showing up some weeks…[Read more]

GP3 will allow four-car teams from next year. However the total number of teams will fall from eight to seven next year, with Carlin and Status departing as DAMS arrive.
It appears only one of the teams will run four cars, as a press release from GP3 today said there will be a maximum of 22 cars next year in 2016:
Following a request from the…

DTM+Force India 3rd driver role didn’t work out for Daniel Juncadella, but I doubt Mercedes will let Ocon fall into that same void.

If he gets DTM + FP1s with Force India.. good or bad? I can see this one going down to the wire, but Ocon is gaining momentum. The Spa penalty could swing it, but interestingly if you take out pole, fast lap and sprint race points, it’d be just as even, but Bernstorff would also have a chance, actually leading by 2 and 5 if given the Spa win. So…[Read more]

@atticus-2 Should have won at Spa – and that string of 2nds is more podiums than Ghiotto has all season.

His pass on Mardenborough was amazing as well. For some reason Mardenborough took a tighter line into that corner which would have made him slower through the corner but nevertheless, it was a brilliant overtake.

Wow. Just wow.
Poor Ocon, how on Earth could he have that long a series of 2nd-place finishes (by the way), it’s beyond my imagination.

This is the young driver Mercedes should be paying Manor to run next year.

If it gives better racing I’ll like it better.. they look OK at the moment, tweaked to give better overtaking (smaller front tyres), after a few dull years with tyre deg taken out, but then brought back with longer races (good move).
The low nose is probably an effort to ape F1 design, while I hope the sidepod floor section doesn’t give us any…[Read more]

I can’t help but think the rear wing looks to high for the rest of the car, and the low nose doesn’t really fit either, but it could be a lot worse that’s for sure.
