Yes, good for Alice. BIG leap for her, hope she makes a good fist of it. Certainly has a quality operation around her in Status GP.

It appears that the Ralf Schumacher-Mucke Motorsport collaboration may not be competing in 2012. In a preview of the 2012 season, the latest issue of The GP2 Insider states that “twenty-five of the twenty-seven seats available have been filled”. One week from the first race in Barcelona, RSC Mucke is the only team not to have confirmed any drivers for the season; both Jenzer and Trident still have one vacancy apiece.

This is yet to be confirmed, though. A few months ago a proposed set of rules was put forward that would see teams reduced to two-car outfits, with a third car optional. Whether or not these changes were accepted is unknown, but if they were, then it is equally-plausible that RSC Mucke, Jenzer and Trident will each run two cars, rounding the field out at the aforementioend 27 cars.

Ceccon stepping down to GP3 having already raced in GP2 – is that a first?

    A good question that @keithcollantine!

Looking through the 2010/11 entry lists, I can tell you he is not. Stefano Coletti did the last few races of the 2009 GP2 season before racing GP3 in 2012; Mikhail Aleshin raced in GP2 as long ago as 2007 and contested a GP3 round in 2010. Meanwhile, Alex Rossi and James Jakes both did GP2 Asia before competing in the inaugural GP3 season. So not a lot of cases, but Ceccon isn’t the first.

As far as the results for the first race go, Alice looks pretty good. The other two, not so much!

Powell P25 to P11 in Race 2 was pretty decent, she didn’t hold Ceccon behind for very long though (about half a lap). How much of this result was aided by quite a few front runners getting drive through penalties though?
