ParticipantIt is the second to last round of the IndyCar 2014 season. Last year, the race was a mess with Will Power winning it. Speaking of power, here’s his on-board lap of around this twisty track.

ParticipantPenske have been strong here historically so that bodes well for Power, although Scott Dixon and Simon Pagenaud could crash the party.

ParticipantJust to mention it, in 2012 we had changes to the layout. So Power’s lap, doesn’t exactly show the circuit Indycar’s layout.
And I hope Kanaan gets his second win at Sonoma, he deserves one this year.

ParticipantYes, the current Indycar layout is 2.385 miles. WTCC used a wider\longer version of turns 7 and 11.

Participant@sigman1998 – Correct. New layout looks like this:

ParticipantCatch him if you can! You’d expect Power to stay ahead of Castroneves based on history at Infenon, but we’ve all said these things before, have we not? Gonna be fun seeing JP from 10 Rows back.

ParticipantMajor earthquake (6.0) in the Napa Valley area today, some of the drivers and team members reported their hotel windows were broken. Not sure how this will affect the track schedule.

ParticipantYup, race is still on.
Conformation from Sonoma raceway:Racing will continue as planned for today’s #GoProGrandPrix @IndyCar Series event. No damage at the track. Check traffic for best routes.

ParticipantPower looks well clear, while Newgarden is starting to show his pace. Q always looks odd with the either/or layout for the back rows of the grid.

ParticipantThey use the split groups to minimise qualifying interference on-track, but it can disadvantage some drivers if one group is weaker than the other.
