It’s a good story and what’s a story without drama? Couldn’t give a rats about the beer.

However, This ad doesn’t actually use the footage of the crash and pays more homage to Dale Jnr’s career and the role his father played in it.I think in this context it was OK and I like the ad. But if the crash footage had been used and the context been a…[Read more]

In 1997 they had to use wet weather tyres during qualifying but the race was dry:

F1 is heading to Suzuka this weekend but 20 years ago some very different machines raced at the Japanese Grand Prix venue.
NASCAR held a pair of exhibition races using the short East Course configuration. That meant they didn’t get to tackle the full grand prix circuit including the mighty Spoon Curve and 130R, but it’s fascinating to see how…[Read more]

Total support to NASCAR owners which will fire drivers that disrespect our flag, veterans and country. In F1, Lewis Hamilton has announce that he is thinking about kneeling during the national anthem at COTA in Austin later this month.
First, I want to start that this is not his country, he is a mere visitor and if he can’t respect our flag and…[Read more] -

Hamilton’s posted about it on Instagram, which begs an obvious question:
Post from @LewisHamilton. Will he #takeaknee at @circuitamericas during the anthem when #F1 goes there next month? https://t.co/nOg49bpoQE pic.twitter.com/nZWjjh8Lgp

Last weekend over 200 American football players out of the 1,696 in the league took part in protests during pre-game performances of the US national anthem. The protests began last year when Colin Kaepernick sat down during a pre-game rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner in protest at civil rights abuses against black people in America.

Danica Patrick has announced she will leave Stewart-Haas at the end of the season:
It has been my honor to drive for Tony Stewart, Gene Haas and everyone at Stewart-Haas Racing for the past six seasons. Together we earned a Daytona 500 pole, seven top-10 finishes and we also had some exciting racing along the way. My time driving for them,…

Interesting to note that in a USA Today poll to find NASCAR’s best track it wasn’t one of the series’ 21 ovals which won but one of its two road courses – former United States Grand Prix venue Watkins Glen:

This follows his being sidelined by concussion last year.
Given the loss of his father in a crash in 2001 and his own injuries, I feel as though health is probably the primary factor in Dale Jr’s decision to step away from the sport. Which is very understable.
