Last weekend, Super TC2000 tried doing a “Pikes Peak” tryout in the mountains near Potrero de los Funes.

They are looking at the possibility of making it like an Argentine hill climb event of some sort, a non-championship challenge, something that was organized by FIAT here in the 70’s called “Challenge of the Brave” (Desafio de los Valientes).

It’s all tarmac and it follows the routes from La Punta to Mirador del Potrero, which is only 5 km (http://goo.gl/maps/4cBaK). Matias Rossi and Leonel Pernia (1-2 in this year’s championship) tried their Toyota Corolla and Renault Fluence STC2000 cars last friday.

I like the idea. It’s something different that should be a proper challenge for the drivers. These cars are handfuls, with 400 hp, and plenty of noise, so watching the whole hillclimb sitting in the mountains must be something out of this world.

They didn’t go full bananas, obviously, but they reached 170 km/h.
